Job description

As leading Financial Accounting Manager you are part of the larger Nike Controlling Organization and embrace best practices. You will be responsible for Nike South Africa Accounting, Tax Management and DTC controlling management. You'll coordinate and perform monthly financial statement close with stakeholders, perform financial statement analysis and advice on financial implication of business decisions and evaluate the effectiveness of controls and make recommendations on opportunities for improvement.

With in-depth knowledge of IFRS/US GAAP/South African Tax law & SEC Listing requirements be able to assess on IFRS/Tax compliance matters and perform IFRS/Tax research on various topics.

Work closely with cross-functional counterparts on special projects. You will be responsible for company Statutory Management. You'll also be a key representative on business initiatives and changes to transaction streams impacting accounting processes, controls, systems and reporting.

KEY JOB FUNCTIONS

· Manage full Financial Accounting team leading the business to ensure quality of numbers is maintained.
· Maintain complete, accurate and timely accounting records, financial and statutory information for the business in accordance with Nike Global accounting policies, IFRS / US GAAP and all regulatory requirements
· Manage all balance sheet reconciliations, including sub ledger reconciliations, to ensure completion in accordance with the finance timetable.
· Financial Profit Centre management (Wholesale business, DTC and Golf profit centers)
· Support accounting requirements arising from annual statutory audit and group internal audit, including supporting Nike South Africa with the preparation of the annual statutory tax returns.
· Finance management of Sports Marketing Assets ensuring compliance with Nike Inc. global requirements.
· Responsible for submission of complete and accurate monthly, quarterly and annual reporting packages to Emerging Markets Controlling, as required, in accordance with US GAAP and reporting deadlines.
· Responsible for producing a complete, accurate and timely set of internal management information reflecting results of operations, financial position of the company and cash flow information to support decision-making needs of the business.
· Responsible for forecasting requirements to the global team from a controlling perspective (Including full cashflow forecasting),
· Ensure compliance with local statute and regulations (Including various statutory requirements).
· Ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures and best business practice
· Maintain strong internal controls and procedures across the business to ensure completeness, accuracy and validity of the accounting books and records
· Execute accounting processes and maintain effective internal controls around the tracking and accounting for business operations including technical considerations around contract accounting, contingencies, marketing and operating commitments in accordance with IFRS/US GAAP and NIKE Accounting Policy.
· Assist with the management of day-to-day accounting operations, and work closely with cross-functional counterparts to develop and maintain policies and processes as needed to handle new or existing transaction streams
· Coordinate and perform financial statement analysis, research anomalies and provide valuable insights
· Full Management of the AP function, Accounting, GL, DTC NFS Controlling and Tax Management.
· Drive continuous improvement in the efficiency and effectiveness of accounting processes and financial reporting

Desired profile

Requirements for this role includes:

·  Chartered Accountant, CA (SA), Articles completed at big 4.
·  2 -3 years post article experience (experience in a FMCG environment is preferred)
·  Experience in Taxation Management (VAT, Corporate taxes, Customs, Transfer pricing, crucial)
