Job description

As our Accounts Payable Team Leader you will provide leadership, analysis and administration within AP and maintain internal controls over the payable cycle to ensure compliance with corporate policies, procedures and statutory legislation and regulations.

KEY JOB FUNCTIONS

Functional Operations and Reporting

· Responsible for full country Payable function, including core product imports and local production, general goods and services and capital acquisitions.
· Review and interpret financial results with Financial manager.
· Understand financial systems and data elements.
· Advise on financial implications of business decisions.
· Produce management reporting and analytical tools.
· Verify that financial activity is recorded in accordance with accounting/finance policy.
· Research financial anomalies and make corrections as necessary.
· Support the Goods Receipt/ Invoice receipt process by researching AP anomalies.
· Participate in the monthly financial statement close for assigned entity.
· Make input towards department planning and policies and procedures

Internal controls and Statutory Compliance

· Monitor compliance of processes, transactions and balances with accounting/ finance policies.
· Assist with implementation and training of accounting policies and procedures.
· Evaluate controls to ensure they are operating effectively and make recommendations to improve controls.
· Ensure all payables transactions are compliant with local statute (incl. VAT, PAYE, IOD, Skills Development and Income Tax)
· Continuous improvement of processes to improve efficiency, enhance productivity and provide value added business support.

People Management

· Set individual/team goals and ensure alignment to departmental goals.
· Motivate, coach, performance-manage, and develop individuals to attain goals.
· Provide input into hiring decisions, performance management and recognition and rewards.
· Address employee relations issues and support diversity.

Projects

· Perform ad-hoc projects as and when required by the Finance Manager.

Desired profile

Requirements for this role includes:

·  The incumbent must have an Accounting qualification with 3-4 years relevant experience within retail or FMCG environment.
·  Should demonstrate good knowledge of accounting principles, statutory and corporate.
·  Numeracy, accuracy and attention to detail are essential requirements
·  Proven track record of development and successful implementation of internal control processes and procedures.
·  Should be results-oriented, demonstrate high-personal standards and possess strong traits in self-discipline, information sharing, be adaptable and flexible to change.
·  Should demonstrate Independence, Initiative, problem-solving skills and Integrity.
·  Excellent communication with good people management skills, and ability to interact at all occupational levels
·  PC literacy with advanced Excel skills.
·  SAP experience will be highly advantageous
