Automation and Controls Engineer

Job description

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Applies electrical / electronic theory, principles of electrical circuits, testing procedures, engineering mathematics, physics, and related knowledge to design, layout, build, test and troubleshoot production equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

· Design, integration and installation of manufacturing lines and subsystems used tomanufacture copper and fiber optic cables.
· Engineer both electrical and electronic systems required for installation andoperation.
· Ability to analyze, designs, develops and document with only high-level directions.
· Technical writing for equipment specifications, operating and installation procedures.
· Manage projects throughout all domestic and foreign divisional locations; travelrequired. Possibly 3 - 4 weeks continuously away from home.
· Oversee special projects and assignments.
· Interface with Production/Engineering personnel at all levels related to projects.
· Writes technical reports and develops charts, graphs, and schematics to describeand illustrate system operating characteristics and functionality.
· Inspects all equipment and designated materials to ascertain conformance toestablished specifications.
· Group leadership responsibility for other department personnel.
· Keeps work area clean and order.

REQUIREMENTS

● Experience in all 3 areas of process automation preferred:

Level 1 – PLC and DCS (Allen-Bradley and Siemens)

Level 2 – SCADA/HMI (Indusoft, Factory Talk View Studio/Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Proface)

Level 3 – Database for Plant process IS (Topserver and Historian)

● AutoCAD knowledge and experience required

● Bachelor of Science Degree – preferably in Electrical Engineering Technology

● Excellent oral and written communications skills

· Employee must adhere to company safety policies.
· Exposure to somewhat disagreeable working conditions (dirt, fumes, lubricants, etc)
· Job requires individual to lift average weight of materials and tools; occasional liftingof heavier material may be necessary.
