We are currently recruiting for a Laboratory Analyst (Level 2) at our Severnside site. The successful candidate will complete micro testing and sampling of incoming raw materials, in process materials and finished products in accordance with Muller Standard Methods Manuals, Industry Codes of Practice and to the CLAS standard.

Your challenge

In this role the key responsibilities will include:

• To ensure that the requirements of the CLAS standard are maintained at all times; this includes all aspects of the lab quality Management system.

• To ensure all required sampling and testing is completed as per defined schedules; this includes swabbing/sampling in the factory departments.

• To provide accurate information to both internal and external customers in the form of reports; this also includes the reporting of any adverse results as according to procedures to the Technical Management team.

• Advising the operations teams on product disposition and corrective action following adverse results.

• To work with the team in collecting lab deliveries, dealing with lab waste streams and supplying consumables to the factory as required ensuring minimum impact to production downtime.

• To prepare and supply laboratory media, as required and to undertake shelf life (organoleptic) analysis of samples, as required.

• To maintain the hygiene and housekeeping of the main Laboratory facility to the CLAS standard.

Key skills & experience:

• Good attention to detail - report writing and accuracy is highly important.

• Excellent team working skills.

• Able to organise time and workload effectively.

• Problem solving is an essential skill.

• Able to use own initiative to look for improvements.

• To be educated to GCSE/ O level in English, Maths and Science; Science A level standard (or equivalent) is preferred.

• Have background experience in a laboratory function, preferably microbiology/other biological function.

• Previous experience working with media prep in a laboratory function is preferred.

(Please note this role covers 19.5 hours per week)
