Applied Scientist - Email Inferences Team

Job description

The Email Inferences team is responsible for powering Cortana digital assistant and Outlook experiences.   Our charter is to research & develop natural language processing & machine learning infrastructure to process billions of documents per day generating insights for digital assistants (e.g. the Cortana Commitments feature to help users manage their busy day).

We’re looking for smart, highly motivated, and innovative software engineers who are passionate about building deep learning platforms for natural language text understanding. You will work with a team of applied scientists and developers who are responsible for all stages of the research & development cycle - from early ideation to scaling our R&D internationally.     You will be asked to take on some big challenges.  

Your responsibilities will include:   Ship large-scale backend services that host complex models and algorithms to process critical user data   Develop offline pipelines to monitor, extract, index and build ML & NLP models   Collaborate with other engineers to build demos and apps to showcase these services   Gather feedback from real users and iterate    

We expect candidates to have a range of skills, typically including:

 

•      Bachelor degree in CS, EE or equivalent    

•      2+ years designing, developing and shipping software.    

•      Experience with C#, C++ or Java    

•      Strong algorithmic, data design, documentation and coding abilities    

•      Experience in natural language processing, machine leaning, deep learning or data mining area a big bonus.  

•      Strong verbal and written communication skills with excellent interpersonal communication and collaboration skills   Passionate & self-motivated
