Bing continues to grow its market share and improve the quality of the Image Search Experience. We are expanding the team to continue our work on break through improvements in the quality of the image search results, and to put more focus on delivering that great experience to our international markets.     Bing Image Index and Service Team is responsible for building image index and various distributed system and models to power user experience in Bing image search. We are critical part of multimedia search (image & video) - which is a huge share of all search queries made - and that share continues to grow as smart phones and tablets become more prevalent and people are browsing for entertainment on the bus or in bed at night. Responsibility of our team ranges from discovery of all the images on the web, to crawling and processing hundreds of billions of images, to storing them in big data store, to selecting the best images to store in the index and understand documents, to serve it to our user in timely manners.    

Positions with our team involve deep thinking and experimentation to solve the many challenging problems in both distributed system and ML/NLP space that we face. We are looking for a self-motivated and talented researcher/developer to own one of the complex feature areas. This is a fun and fast paced environment, where developers are empowered to innovate and build your own career.   Curiosity, creativity and versatility are strongly valued.   Whether your interest is building robust scalable systems, pushing the advancement of computer vision/machine learning state of the arts, the team has compelling projects to offer. You will be expected to drive the project from conception to end. Strong machine learning / computer vision / natural language processing background would be a huge plus.  

Required Skills:

A B.A. or B.S. degree.

At least 3 years of professional software development experience in distributed system and/or big data.  

Proficiency in OO languages such as C, C++, or C# or Java.

Strong skill and experience in Machine learning and computer vision.

Love to design and write great code, with great technical passion, terrific problem-solving skills, drive for results, and ability to work independently.          

Excellent communication and cross-team skills.

Additional Qualifications:

Strong skill and experience in Azure, cosmos, Hadoop, autopilot environment will be a big plus.          

Experience in ML/NLP and Deep Learning will be a big plus.        

Strong skill and experience in large scale data processing and distributed system is big plus
