How would you like to help manage the world’s data?   If you like large-scale data management and distributed systems problems, the OneDrive File System team is looking for you! OneDrive is at the center of Microsoft’s cloud strategy and touches almost every piece of the company, whether it is through Windows, Office, Xbox, or our own apps. As part of the OneDrive development team, you have the opportunity to fundamentally change the way that people use their devices and interact with the most important content in their lives. We are currently in the midst of a major engineering shift to scale to an ever-growing customer base. Now is a great time to join the OneDrive family!   The OneDrive file system team is looking for a highly motivated, strong Software Engineer who is truly passionate about large-scale data storage and management.   We own the core file storage system within OneDrive and work closely with Azure, Windows, Office365, and many other teams in our efforts.   We work toward cheap, fast, reliable, and feature-rich storage of OneDrive data.   It’s a space that offers many opportunities for growth and technical depth.  

Roles & Responsibilities:

• People in this role will work closely with other teams within OneDrive and Microsoft to build the tools and services that shape the storage layer and associated systems of OneDrive.

• You’ll work on a variety of technology areas, including large file storage, metadata management, and sync protocols.  

• You will be expected to drive features and improvements from idea inception through release to customers.  

• You will also be expected to lead design and development of larger subsystems within OneDrive, improving the codebase and helping your peers to improve.  

Skills & Qualifications:

• 2+ years of programming/software engineering/software development experience

• BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

• Experience in developing, debugging and maintaining code in object oriented languages (C# preferred) and database querying languages (SQL preferred.)

• Strong coding, debugging, algorithm design and problem solving skills.

• Passion for improving software quality, performance and reliability

• Passion for engineering excellence.

• Background in services and cloud computing a plus.
