Software Engineer 2

Job description

We are a team of elite software engineers and data scientists that work together to provide answers to some of the toughest questions to help bring the right products to over 1.8 billion unique users. We’re the Analysis and Experimentation (A&E) team, part of Microsoft Artificial Intelligence and Research group, and we’re looking to hire you! Here in A&E we believe that data help us make better decisions. As a member of the team, you will collaborate closely with some of the brightest minds in the field of data science and engineering to build and enhance our internal analytics tools and systems. You will be working closely with other teams from Office, Bing, Skype and Xbox amongst to enable them to make data driven decisions at the product and business levels. You should love the idea of working closely with all the smart and creative people at Microsoft, doing deep analysis and writing software to make their lives better and work easier. The work you do will have a direct impact in Microsoft and its current and future line of products and services.

Requirements:

Demonstrated ability to working across the software stack, including data mining at scale, database design, and frontend/backend services.

Fluency in many programming languages and ability to quickly learn new ones (C#, SQL, Javascript/TypeScript, etc.)

Experience leading agile process and proven success in shipping at high cadence.

A strong sense of curiosity and a willingness to learn, share, and improve.  

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity and/or contributions with open source software stack.

Experience in modern web development (HTML5, JavaScript, jQuery, etc.) and design.

Data hacking skills and knowledge in various analytical programming languages and frameworks: Hadoop/MapReduce, SCOPE, R, Python   XIPERGX
