Job description

Joining the Microsoft DX Team means…

Microsoft DX (Developer Experience) in Canada is a team of passionate technologists. We are focused on helping ISVs (we love acronyms and that stands for Independent Software Vendors) also known as partners or customers to use our cloud, productivity, and client technologies to build great solutions that may be used by one person, all of Canada or the entire world.

The things you will do…

You will get to work with amazingly talented technologists in Vancouver (as well as across Canada) by helping them solve their complex technical problems and chart their application’s architectural direction.

The primary responsibilities include –

Work with developers, architects and technical decision makers to build/integrate solutions on Microsoft Azure.

Work together with a team of technical evangelists and partner business evangelists to create solutions for ISVs using Microsoft Azure and all kinds of clients and devices.

Design, code and test proof of concept with partners or assist them directly when developing their commercial app.

Build reference architecture, frameworks and toolkits to drive scale of adoption in the ecosystem.

Participate in community conversations through blogs, discussion forums and key ISV conferences.

Who we’re looking for…

We are not looking for unicorns or rock stars, we want humans who are passionate about technology and helping our ISVs.

We are looking for:

Someone who loves getting deep in a technology. More than likely you ask yourself daily “How does this work?” and then begin rolling up your sleeves.

Someone who embraces ambiguity and runs with it. We know you won’t have all the answers, but we will work with you to find them.

Someone who likes to share what they know. You most likely have a GitHub account, social media account, and even though doing a presentation may make you nervous, you like to tell others about technologies.

Someone who likes code. You like to write, look at it, share it, and break it. You can’t help yourself from checking out the code when it is available or sneaking a peek via View Source.

Someone who loves Open Source. You may have heard otherwise, but Microsoft loves Open Source. We will help you continue your projects you are committed to. We hope that you find Bash, Linux, Docker, Git and NodeJS as awesome as we do.

Someone who embraces Inclusivity & Diversity. PS, if you don’t, don’t bother applying.

Someone who loves to learn and learns fast. You are on a learning journey in your career & want to be someplace that supports your learning on the job as well as training opportunities.

Someone who is self-motivated. Guess what? No more office. You can work from home in the Montreal area or the local coffee shop! You will do some travelling when necessary, but not much.

Someone who is an early adopter. You will sometimes be working on technology that hasn’t even been released!

Someone who likes extra credit. Those things include: Deep Azure knowledge. Good working knowledge of AWS. DevOps and all of its greatness. The .net Microsoft stack.

Let us know if this describes you and you want an amazing career as a Technical Evangelist for ISVs.
