Your Role

EMD Serono in Billerica, MA is hiring a Senior Scientist – Functional Genomics.  As a key member of the Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology Department, the candidate will contribute to the design and execution of cellular experiments and screens using RNAi, CRISPR, and other functional genomics tools for target identification, MOA characterization, and mechanisms of resistance and/or sensitivity to small and large molecules.

 

The incumbent will leverage expertise in high-throughput siRNA and/or CRISPR-based screening to support on-going target deconvolution and validation work through:

·  Development, optimization, and execution of pooled and arrayed functional genomics screens
·  Integration of functional genomics approaches with proteomics, bioinformatics, and other technologies

 

Who you are:

Minimum Qualifications:

·  PhD degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology or other related Scientific discipline with 3+ years’ experience in functional genomic screening and methodologies OR
·  Master’s degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology or other related Scientific discipline with 5+ years’ experience in functional genomic screening and methodologies     

 

Preferred Qualifications

·  In-depth knowledge in the design and execution of various cellular and functional genomics assays
·  Skilled at cellular assay design, miniaturization, and execution in formats amenable to high throughput
·  Familiarity with automation, liquid handling systems, bioinformatics, and molecular biology tools such as Geneious, or similar tools.
·  Team player with excellent interpersonal skills and great attention to detail
·  Excellent communication and presentation skills with a track record of publication
·  Desire to work in a matrix team, representing Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology in discovery project teams
