Scientist, Oncology
Your role:
We have an opening for a Scientist to join our Translational Oncology group at EMD Serono, Billerica, MA. The Scientist will conduct research and supervise 1-2 associate scientists in the area of DNA Damage Response (DDR) therapeutics for cancer. The research involves cancer cell biology and molecular biology assays to better understand the mechanism of action and biomarkers for several drugs that are being developed.
Who you are:
Minimum Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry or related Scientific discipline and 3+ years’ experience in the area of DNA Damage Response or DNA Repair or Master’s degree in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry or related Scientific discipline.
Preferred Qualifications:
· PhD in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry or a related scientific discipline.
· Publication record in the area of cancer cell biology, molecular mechanisms of tumorigenesis or cancer biomarkers.
· 2+ years’ experience in a biotech/pharmaceutical research setting. Hands-on experience in cancer drug discovery and development.
· Research and experience in the area of the DNA Damage Response (DDR) or DNA Repair mechanisms.
· Extensive experience with a variety of cancer cell assays, molecular biology techniques and biomarker assays.
· Experience supervising graduate students or associate scientists or in the laboratory and directing their research.
· Ability to design and execute experiments with independence, curiosity and scientific rigor.
· Ability to interpret results and present findings in research team settings.
· Proficiency with a variety of standard molecular and cell biological techniques such as western blotting, ELISA, FACS, qRT-PCR, cell proliferation, drug combination and apoptosis assays.
· Experience with high-content cell imaging analysis such as IncuCyte.
· Experience with CRISPR and gene knockout techniques.
· Experience with biomarker assay development from tumor tissue or surrogate tissues.
· Ability to develop protocols and SOPs. Excellent attention to detail and record keeping.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, GraphPad Prism and other data analysis software.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
