Scientist

Your Role:

At MilliporeSigma this role is in our Analytical Development group. In your role as a Scientist you will develop and evaluate new analytical technologies/methods, devise analytical experimental plans and material specifications, support chemical process development efforts and assist operational units with investigative analysis. The work is expected to be accomplished in independent manner, with moderate supervision.

 

·  Support process development groups with analytical method development, analytics support and investigational work
·  Generate method qualification and validation reports as needed to meet ISO 9001 standards
·  Interact with other Scientists and Engineers to ensure that a healthy pace of technology advancement in the analytical sciences is maintained
·  Interpret spectral and other analytical data for structural elucidation and support of interpretation of process outcome
·  Experience with some combination of HPLC, GC, MS, IR, UV-Vis, NMR, IC or other techniques
·  Participate in the development of in-process and final product testing methods in support of new product manufacturing
·  Assist and provide guidance to QC and production groups with new specifications and testing for intermediates and final products

 

Physical Attributes:

 

·  Occasionally will wear personal protective equipment such as a respirator or chemical protective clothing for extended periods of time
·  Employee is required to sit, stand, hear, and use hands to operate all office equipment.
·  Employee must be able to talk, hear, taste and smell. 
·  View computer monitors for long periods of time. 
·  Vision requirements are close vision and the ability to adjust focus. 
·  Employee occasionally will be required to lift, generally no more than 25 pounds.

 

Who you are:

Minimum Qualifications: 

·  Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or other Scientific discipline AND 10+ years’ experience in a quality control or analytical laboratory environment AND 2+ years’ experience in an industrial process development environment

OR

·  Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or other Scientific discipline AND 3+ years’ experience in an analytical laboratory environment AND 2+ years’ experience in an industrial process development environment

OR

·  PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or other Scientific discipline

Preferred Qualifications:

 

·  Experience with chemical principles and safe chemical handling.
·  Experience in Electronic Materials or Pharmaceutical Industry
·  Highly proficient in chemistry, math, and general science
·  Knowledge of ISO Quality standards
·  Knowledge of chemical processing techniques and unit operations
·  Excellent oral and written communication skills.
·  Knowledge of spectra interpretation and mathematics
·  Experience with some combination of HPLC, GC, MS, IR, UV-Vis, NMR, IC or other techniques
