  Your Role: 

The Production Engineer manages the Operational Excellence (OE) & QUAD_T cost-saving programs on-site while collaborating with the production team to develop engineering solutions. May require up to 20% travel by car and/or plane. The scope of this role includes: 

·  Manage the site Operational Excellence (OE) program
·  Lean & Six Sigma (L&SS) 
·  Lead L&SS steering committee to identify projects in Branchburg (BB) 
·  Personally manage several L&SS cost savings projects 
·  Own the LASSIE database in BB, monitor status of all projects 
·  Assist 6 sigma belts for projects: LASSIE registration, benefit calculation, etc 
·  Coordinate annual project evaluation and Award nominations to EMD Electronics - a recognition program 
·  Best Practice Sharing (BPS) 
·  Lead monthly BPS meeting to drive local BPS activities: find local BPS for submission 
·  Search BPS in Sharkey and communicate with department managers for possible adoption 
·  Coordinate BPS quarterly award recognition program  
·  Opportunities for Improvement (OFI) 
·  Manage the Merck Idea management system – intranet database 
·  Conduct first assessments for OFIs submitted in system, Lead OFI monthly meeting to review OFIs  
·  Coordinate OFI quarterly evaluation and award - a recognition program 
·  Manage “ T he T ransformation T ask T eam” (QUAD_T) efficiency savings program 
·  Manage execution of the site savings strategy 
·  Drive accountability for project schedule and compliance with committed savings targets 
·  Develop chemical production process engineering solutions to address safety, quality, and productivity opportunities 
·  Lead the production troubleshooting process, collaborate with the quality engineering team to resolve product quality excursions 
·  Identify production capacity improvement opportunities and manage the associated capital expenditure projects.   
·  Organize and Lead quarterly 5S audits 

 

Physical Requirements  

·  Standing for extended periods of time - up to four (4) hours 
·  Sitting for extended periods of time - up to four (4) hours 
·  May require limited use of a respirator

 

Basic Qualifications:

·  Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Engineering 
·  3+ years of experience with chemical process improvements or engineering projects

 

Preferred Qualifications:

·  Experience establishing, evaluating, and implementing safety, quality, and productivity improvements 
·  Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work with attention to detail 
·  Demonstrated ability to work independently 
·  Demonstrated excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills 
· 
Aptitude to respond to international team requirements with varying work schedules
