Process Engineer III

EMD Performance Materials is seeking a Process Engineer for its Colloidal Silica manufacturing facility located in Martin, SC. In this role, the Process Engineer will serve as the cognizant technical function for the operating facility as well its technicalconscience.

 

Your Role:

 

The Process Engineer will work in a dynamic environment supporting the manufacture of colloidal silica slurry.  In doing so, the Process Engineer maintains efficiency and upkeep of critical manufacturing equipment through effective troubleshooting techniques. This role identifies and improves yield loss and scrap opportunities, develops and recommends new testing processes and technologies to achieve cost effectiveness and improved product quality and establishes operating equipment specifications and improves manufacturing techniques.

 

In this role you will inspect performance of machinery, equipment and tools to verify their efficiency and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality. You will also develop manufacturing processes that demonstrate levels of statistical control and validate new equipment and process changes.

 

The Process Engineer is also responsible for the developing and/or implementing of systems improvement projects and supports maintenance and production groups in resolving technical and engineering issues.   You will provide process on assigned Corrective Action Preventive Action (CAPA).  Trains departmental technicians and operators to ensure sufficient expertise exists within the manufacturing work centers.  You will review capital equipment fabrication activities to ensure manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications, regulatory safety standards, and user requirements.

 

As a part of this team you will also investigate and develop new processes required to improve manufacturing operations and processes.  Develop cost estimates, obtains quotes, and generates capital requests to support new processes and capital equipment purchase. The Process Engineer also generates, reviews and approves engineering, manufacturing and quality procedures necessary to support equipment validation/revalidation, launch, and normal production schedules.

 

Facilitates training for individuals involved with the operation and maintenance of processes and equipment introduced to the manufacturing department.  Initiate, reviews/approves change requests, and develops implementation solutions to support operational needs.

 

Who You Are:

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

·  Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering or Material Science and Engineering, or similar field with 5+ years of work experience in a chemical manufacturing facility environment.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

·  Instrumentation PLC, HMI, and control system programming experience.
·  Lean 6 Sigma experience with green or black belt.
·  Works comfortably in production environments and has hands-on approach to problem solving.
·  Strong communication and interpersonal skills
·  Solidworks or equivalent capability
