Your Role:

The Environmental Health Safety & Security position will execute Environmental, Health, Safety & Security support services under the direction of the Head of EHS and Site Security for the Carlsbad Viral Vector Manufacturing site including but not limited to EHS training, regulatory and corporate compliance, license/permit management, site auditing, deviation responses, recordkeeping, root cause investigations, risk assessment, and development/adherence to ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.  

 

Essential Functions: 

·  Act as the administrator of Environmental, Health, and Safety Programs
·  Assist in the collection of data to support all required regulatory and corporate reports
·  Ensure department program compliance with ISO14001 and ISO45001 requirements
·  Conduct appropriate EHS audits and author audit reports to highlight compliance issues and drive the reduction of risk
·  Participate in activities associated with contractor safety, work safety reviews, and safety job walks/inspections
·  Conduct root cause investigations and risk assessments
·  Implement workplace injury/illness prevention programs which include health and safety procedures, incident investigation, and training
·  Support the completion of corrective/preventative actions identified in regulatory and corporate audits and internal risk reduction programs
·  Provide EHS support to Manufacturing, Distribution/Logistics, Quality Control and Engineering/Maintenance change controls and new project/process introductions
·  Prompt interaction with Site Leadership and HR to address EHS-related employee issues
·  Support the BeSafe observations program
·  Develop new EHS concepts, techniques, and policies
·  Develop and implement EHS training for all employees
·  Support the Hazardous Waste Management Program
·  Maintain and drive safety culture throughout the site
·  Support the Site Security Plan and applicable plan and audits

 

Who You Are:

Minimum Qualifications:

·  High School Diploma or GED
·  4+ years of experience in an EHS role
·  2+ years of experience with environmental regulations, chemical safety, ergonomics, fall protection, respiratory protection, lab safety, DOT and IATA regulations, Bloodborne Pathogens, behavior-based safety programs, and lab safety practices

 

OR

 

·  Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Environmental Health, Occupational Safety, Safety Engineering, or similar discipline
·  2+ years of experience in an EHS role
·  2+ years of experience with environmental regulations, chemical safety, ergonomics, fall protection, respiratory protection, lab safety, DOT and IATA regulations, Bloodborne Pathogens, behavior-based safety programs, and lab safety practices

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

·  2+ years working in a manufacturing environment
·  2+ years of experience with ISO14001 or ISO45001
·  Experience in a pharmaceutical and/or packaging setting with cGMP knowledge
·  1+ years of experience in conducting Risk Assessments and Job Hazard Analyses and managing corrective actions
·  Ability to interpret and complete permit and regulatory requirements
·  Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
·  Strong organizational and time management skills
·  Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects 
·  Ability to develop solutions to complex problems with ingenuity and innovation
·  Ability to communicate effectively with all levels within the organization and with outside contacts
