Job description

Safely operate and instruct others to the proper use of production equipment to run efficiently at high quality levels.  Follow safety procedures and practices at all times.  Maintain a clean and orderly work environment for yourself and those within your area.  Conduct quality inspection of work in accordance with SOP procedures. Ensure product work flow to maintain schedules.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Safety oriented.

• Inspection of product and labels to ensure product quality and cost accountability.

• Leadership ability to manage many different classes of people equally dealing effectively with issues and complaints.

• Product Flow management using Kanban.

• Plan and assign work to complete production schedule.

• Assign priorities to personnel.

• Excellent communication skills.

• Manage temporary Medtronic employees

• Cross train production operators.

• Train operators to appropriate SOP’s

• Use SPC to manage quality of the process.

• Follow-up on Quality Notifications (QN’s).

• Coordinate with the technical teams (Supervisors, Technician, Engineering).

• Attend and participate in BU meeting daily.

• Follow up with Team Leader and/or production operators from previous shift to be aware of any concerns with equipment, material or personnel issue.

• Become involved in six sigma projects by attending product/project meetings or becoming part of a team when requested.

• Handle hazardous materials appropriately learning the proper and safe process and implementing it at all times.

• Troubleshoot automated manufacturing equipment (mechanical, pneumatics, vision, robotics).

• Interact with computer controlled equipment and processes requiring basic computer skills.

• Monitor SAP transactions with regards to orders.

• Facilitate group discussions to solve problems.

• Monitor breaks and lunch (2-20 minute breaks per shift)

• Record requested vacation/personal days.

• Lead exercise group (calisthenics)

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education required:

• High School Education (or equivalent)

• College or Technical School course work / degree a plus.

• Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language

Knowledge or equivalent training required to perform position duties:

Length of necessary/required experience:

• 1 year of leading a small team and interacting with supporting functions such as planning, Engineering, maintenance, and HR.

Other qualifications:

• Good communication skills, both verbal and written.

• Works well in a “Team” environment

• Understanding 5S and Lean a plus

• Ability to solve problems

• Ability to guide others to accomplish goals

Skills:

INITIATIVE AND INGENUITY:

• Work efficiently and with minimal supervision.

• Complete and verify batch sheets.

DECISION MAKING:

• The Team Leader will use his/her discretion when deciding to shut down a malfunctioning machine.

• Understand product quality and make quality minded decisions.

• Taking a discipline approach to process management.

• Meets requirements of internal and external customers.

• Sets priorities according to schedule and projects.

COST OF MISTAKES:

• Mistakes processing material as intended usually results in scrapped materials and extensive labor to rework products resulting in lost profits
