POSITION DESCRIPTION:
This position has the responsibility and authority to provide engineering guidance and project team leadership for Incoming Quality Assurance and Production through the review, analysis and resolution of supplier quality issues.  Serves as the primary Quality contact for suppliers and provides technical assistance to quality engineering management as requested.  Responsible for assessing, monitoring and continued adequacy and effectiveness of supplier quality systems.  Ensures compliance of supplier products and processes with applicable specifications, standards and the Quality System.  Contributes to development of incoming materials’ inspection criteria for Incoming Quality Assurance.  Reviews and approves inspection sampling plans for selected parts. Monitors supplier performance and initiates supplier corrective actions as appropriate.  May audit and recommend suppliers or establish supplier process validation/controls.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leads engineering projects of moderate complexity. Utilizes team leadership skills to effectively communicate, facilitate and organize project activities related to supplier quality.  Develops and manages project schedules to ensure deadlines are met. Provides input to management for creating project budgets and identifying necessary resources.
Serves as the primary Quality contact for suppliers and provides technical assistance to quality engineering management for suppliers as requested.
May work with suppliers to develop control plans and support change control activities.
Works closely with other functional areas to conduct supplier selection surveys and capability studies to meet supplier development goals. Recommends suppliers to management based on superior results and performance.
Provides supplier quality input to suppliers such as, but not limited to, statistical process control and capability studies.
Leads the inspection plan development effort to be followed in incoming quality inspection. Continuously monitors inspection effectiveness and makes recommendations for improvements to inspection criteria, sampling plans, etc. as needed.
Resolves supplier quality issues at incoming inspection and on the production line. Provides project team leadership and conducts investigations relating to supplier quality issues. Initiates supplier corrective action (SCAPA) and monitors follow-up with assigned supplier base.
Facilitates resolution of internal/external material quality issues by participating in root cause analysis and by working with suppliers to ensure continuous corrective action.
Recommends, initiates and ensures completion of internal corrective action.
Provides clear and concise technical information to suppliers and internal organizations through written and oral presentations/reports to ensure continuous improvement.
Routinely reports on supplier performance via routine, defined metrics to management and other team members.
May conducts supplier audit, generate audit reports and ensure supplier audit findings are tracked to timely and adequate closure.
May develop quality agreements for internal and external suppliers.
All activities must be performed in compliance with the Quality System.
Performs duties in compliance with environmental, health and safety related site rules, policies or governmental regulations.
All other duties as assigned.
Travel requirement: 20-30%

Desired profile

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION, THE FOLLOWING BASIC QUALIFICATIONS MUST BE EVIDENT ON YOUR RESUME
REQUIRED EDUCATION: 
 B.S. degree in engineering or a technical field
 REQUIRED YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 
2 years engineering experience

DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in the medical device field preferred
Demonstrated ability to solve a variety of engineering problems
Very good organizational skills
Very good verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to develop and present technical information necessary for the company
Excellent analytical skills
