Job description

The Sr. Automation Engineer responsibilities include but are not limited to support various manufacturing sites for Medtronic devices.  This includes being the project lead in cost savings, manufacturing process improvements, and assembly equipment replacement projects.

* The Sr. Automation Engineer will not only need to follow but to develop new company’s best practices and standard procedures.

* The Sr. Automation Engineer must be able to communicate technically with various internal departments to ensure that equipment is in compliance with EHS requirements and the equipment provided makes high quality assemblies to meet all product requirements.

* The Sr. Automation Engineer is responsible for providing all documentation required to support assembly equipment. This includes but is not limited to operating instructions, equipment drawings, specifications and completed FAT’s covering each piece of equipment provided.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Lead for providing equipment specifications for vendors to quote required assembly equipment.

* Drives reviews of equipment quotes, leads design reviews andmanages and lead project teamsto provide assembly equipment.

* Ensures equipment and fixtures are durable, easy to set up, adjust and maintain.

* Key participant in DFMEA, PFMEA, and CTQ processes assuring specifications are well defined and documented.

* Skilled in CAD, 2D and 3D

* Knowledgeable in PLC’s, Electrical Schematics, Pneumatics and Vision systems.

* Assure production requirements are achieved for equipment specifications, supplier selection, and qualification.

* Conceptual leader for technology advances associated with tooling and process development.

* Communicate and coordinate activities with multiple functional groups both within and outside of operations.

* 25% travel to manufacturing sites and supplier visits required. (International and domestic).

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

 

* Dynamic, positive attitude

 

* Strong Mechanical Design experience with focus on equipment reliability, ease of set up / adjustments and ease of maintenance.

 

* Strong communication, manufacturing process, product industrialization and leadership skills.

 

* Solid design, troubleshooting and presentation skills.

 

* Strong project management skills.

 

* Well versed in molding (MIM), stamping and machining methods and assembly processes.

 

* Experience in semi-automated assembly equipment typically used for Surgical Devices.

 

*Experience in Equipment Software and PLC programing.

 

* Working Knowledge of Six Sigma.

 

* Working knowledge of GD&T.

 

* Working knowledge of DFMEA, PFMEA, and Risk Tools.

 

* Working knowledge of DFA/ DFM principles.

 

* Strong computer skills.

 

 

 

EDUCATION:

 

* BS Engineering or Equivalent.

 

 

 

EXPERIENCE:

 

* Min 8 yrs. Applicable Experience.
