Cost Accounting Specialist

SUMMARY OF POSITION: Prepare and communicate weekly and monthly results, maintain various tracking systems, perform account analyses and reconciliations, and assist in month end closing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Observe all safety precautions and regulations at all times in all areas where duties are performed. Responsible for reporting all safety hazards and potential unsafe working conditions.
• Understand and comply with all current plant policies and procedures.
• Prepare and communicate weekly and monthly results (Plant Performance Reports).
• Prepare monthly and quarterly account reconciliations.
• May serve as primary or backup resource for either CIP/fixed asset tracking or inventory accounting.
 CIP/Fixed Assets
• Maintain tracking (ProjectSumz) and forecasting (CERTS) databases for Capital In Process (CIP).
• Maintain fixed asset system including closeout of CIP accounts as well as maintenance of the fixed asset register.
• Coordinate and track physical inventory of fixed assets.
 Inventory
• Validate cost reduction savings amounts and maintain tracking of the cost reduction tracking system.
• Perform inventory account analyses including reviewing and researching non-standard transactions.
• Track and expedite vendor return credits.
• General accounting duties may include:
• Processing of general accounting activities such as BPCS/Akritiv vendor setup and maintenance, employee store, bank deposits, and Maximo invoice reconciliation.
• Review and expedite items from the BPCS error maintenance report.
• Track and report salvage activities.
• Obtain and maintain records of approvals for cycle count adjustments and track monthly cycle count results.
• Perform month-end closing duties.
• Perform payroll related duties as assigned..
• Assist in creation of annual budget schedules as directed.
• Assist with physical inventories.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Cost Accounting Manager or the Plant Controller.

Desired profile

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Bachelor’s degree (accounting major a plus).
Experience: Entry level position. 1-3 years experience with some exposure to cost accounting within a manufacturing environment a plus.
Preferred Skills/Qualifications: Exposure to plant enterprise and financial systems.
Preferred Skills/Competencies: Proficient in Excel. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Self-motivated. Good analytical and problem solving skills.

Other Skills: Must be able to speak, read and write the English language
