BACKGROUND

Due to increased volumes we now have several exciting opportunities for individuals to come and join Mars at the Slough Factory on a permanent basis on the Maltesers Line as Operators! Reporting directly to the Shift Team Lead, you will be responsible for outputs and standards in safety, hygiene, quality, value and service on one or more machines, processes or pieces of equipment on one shift.

THE JOB

Working as a member of a shift team, the primary role of an Operator is to demonstrate ownership and responsibility for a set of machines, pieces of equipment and or processes within their working area. This includes carrying out the routine operational tasks required to achieve area targets e.g. starting-up, shutting-down, monitoring, cleaning and carrying out basic changeovers, minor repairs, routine checks and inspections, and the use of basic ancillary equipment and computer programs.

What are we looking for?

·  Educated to GCSE level or above
·  Fluent verbal and written English skills
·  Experience in the FMCG / Consumer Goods sector desirable but not essential
·  Mechanical training or experience in fault finding – beneficial

What you'll be doing:

·  Take part in continuous improvement projects.
·  Repair mechanical breakdowns using trained knowledge or experience.
·  Recognize deviations from performance standards and escalate as appropriate.
·  Part of a shift team of up to 15 associates contribute to achievement of area KPIs.
·  Accountable for the performance of several machines, processes or pieces of equipment.
·  Escalate issues as appropriate, give full and accurate verbal and written handovers
·  Maintain and develop their own skills and pass them on to other associates, training other Operators as required to improve overall factory performance.
