The Sanitation Lead is responsible to lead the sanitation team in implementing the Food Safety and Sanitation requirements. This position requires self-motivation and the ability to perform with little or no direction while following established SSOP/SOP’s, Good Manufacturing Practices, and all Safety related Rules, Regulations, and Company Policies. The Sanitation Lead must demonstrate effective skills to manage Sanitation Master Schedule Cleaning Procedures, develop and deliver effective, detailed training to sanitation associates and adhere to all aspects of the safety and environmental policies of the facility. A successful candidate needs to communicate well orally and in writing, submit reports as necessary and present materials to associates and staff. 

 

Principal Accountabilities

·  Responsible to lead associates in successfully completing plant sanitation and food safety requirements.
·  Directs and coordinates all daily sanitation activities within the processing plant as well as the grounds surrounding the processing plant. Ensures the cleaning and sanitation for multiple production lines and non-production areas per the Master Sanitation Schedule with particular attention to Lock Out/Tag Out requirements.
·  Assign work to associates daily, responsible for confirming documented sanitation activities as required, and assuring all paperwork is filled out properly.
·  Participate in safety, plant, and department meetings.
·  May be required to drive a forklift and scissor lift as necessary. May be required to teach and assure proper use of all sanitation equipment, to include the following. Operate Bio-Mist and exchange gas/propane cylinders. 
·  Operate gas powered cleaning equipment- power washer, blowers, other equipment as necessary.  Learn and follow safety procedures for all equipment and report all incidents regardless of size.
·  Proper use of cleaning equipment and related chemicals (Drive floor scrubber(s), vacuums, brushes, mops, and all cleaning equipment per colour coding in the facility.)
·  Participate and adhere to all food safety requirements, Quality Management Processes, and site safety programs ensuring that all standards are met.
·  Demonstrate a quality culture in actions, words and spirit.
·  Promotes a safe work environment through knowledge of the sanitation program and commitment to a safe work place for all. Ensure food safety and food defense in the plant.
·  Directs and coordinates all daily sanitation activities within the processing plant as well as the grounds surrounding the processing plant.
·  Implements all GMP and HACCP procedures that relate to cleanliness, food safety and pest control with the facility. Supervises sanitation team to ensure all procedures are followed.
·  Responsible for managing and maintaining a supply of cleaning chemicals necessary for the operation of the cleaning program and in compliance with OSHA and FDA regulations.
·  Manages operations to maintain the highest rating possible on all audits and inspections. Interacts with third party auditors to facilitate Food Safety audits within the plant.
·  Develops and implements new methods, procedures, and systems to improve quality and food safety performance, determine and implement corrective actions.
·  Lead, motivate and develop sanitation personnel to achieve outstanding manufacturing and sanitation results. Effectively conduct team meetings. Provide a satisfying and rewarding work environment for employees.
·  Responsible for daily scheduling and efficient resource allocation. Responsible for filling out daily sanitation logs and shift paperwork.
·  As part of the plant leadership team, provides excellent communication and partnership with the quality control and production departments.
·  Coordinates the completion of all required sanitation or maintenance required by the master sanitation schedule, and/or end of week sanitation activities.
·  Develop, implement, and manage all monitoring forms, records, and documentation to comply with all requirements.
·  Performs other related duties and assignments as required

Requirements and Preferred Experience

Required

·  High School Diploma or equivalent.
·  Ability to work independently without supervision as well as within a team setting.
·  Must be willing to work overtime and weekends as necessary.
·  3+ years of manufacturing experience operating a variety of machines
·  2 years of work experience within manufacturing, or a technical and/or trade discipline
·  Demonstrated competency in computer and pc software including MS Office and email
·  Knowledge of inventory control principles
·  All associates are responsible for the safety, quality and food safety in their work area.

 

Physical requirements

·  Sufficient mobility, strength, flexibility, hearing, and sight to access all job relevant areas and perform routine activities as necessary to deliver required results.
·  Some pushing/pulling, bending/stooping, and lifting (up to 55 lbs.) necessary
