Our ideal Event Operations Assistant Manager

What we're looking for

· Sustained and proven experience in a similar high volume environment finance environment

· Be experienced in running large conferences, dinners, drink receptions and social events

· A strong knowledge of lifestyle and luxury hotel standards

· A team-first attitude with a positive outlook and outgoing personality

· Great event execution and hospitality skills as well as attention to detail

· Previous supervisory experience in a similar quality, five-star, high volume environment is a big plus

As our new Event Operations Assistant Manager, you will be responsible for:

· Effectively manage the day to day floor operation and be fully accountable for all aspects of it from start to finish

· Set high standards of performance levels of self and others

· Challenge the Status Quo

· Floor management by adhering to internal LSOP's

· Knowledgeable of Event Operations procedures of planning, execution and post event debrief

· Presence during event briefings so that all the relevant information as well guest expectations are shared with the team

· Maintain performance levels under pressure

· Have leadership qualities but are also able to take directions from others

· Provide support to the department to execute in absence of the Event Operations Manager all operational, finance and payroll responsibilities for the department.

Identify and understand issues, challenges and opportunities; obtain and compare information from different sources to draw conclusions; develop and evaluate alternatives and solutions; solve problems and choose a course of action

Qualifications :

JOB SUMMARY

Entry level management position that leads the banquet staff while personally assisting in executing events based on requirements and standards. Develops and directs team to provide consistent, high quality service. Communicates performance expectations and trains staff in processes. Responsible for managing financial and administrative duties.

Supporting Management of Department Operations and Inventories

• Manages departmental inventories and assets including par levels and maintenance of equipment.

• Conducts monthly department meetings with the Banquet supervisors and employees.

• Maintains attendance log for banquet employees.

• Maintains and enforces established sanitation levels.

• Adheres to and reinforces all standards, policies, and procedures (SOPs, LSOPs, etc.).

• Orders supplies for the department (e.g., china, glass, silver, buffet presentations, props, and other service equipment needs).

• Understands the impact Banquet operations has on the overall success of an event and manages activities to maximize customer satisfaction.

• Schedules banquet service staff to forecast and service standards, while maximising profits.

Participating in and Leading Banquet Teams

• Attends and participates in all pertinent meetings.

• Leads shifts and actively participates in the servicing of events.

• Applies and continually broadens knowledge of food and wine pairings and cutting edge cuisine, and overall event presentation.

Providing and Ensuring Exceptional Guest Experience

• Sets a positive example for guest relations.

• Interacts with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels.

• Responds to and handles guest problems and complaints.

• Empowers employees to provide an excellent guest experience.

• Strives to improve service performance.

• Emphasises guest satisfaction during all departmental meetings and focuses on continuous improvement.

Conducting Human Resources Activities

• Interviews and hires Banquet employees as and when, with appropriate skills.

• Supports a departmental orientation program for employees to receive the appropriate new hire training to successfully perform their job.

• Ensures employees understand expectations and parameters.

• Observes service behaviours of employees and provides feedback to individuals.

• Reviews comment cards and guest satisfaction results with employees.

• Participates in the development and implementation of corrective action plans.

• Communicates and executes departmental and property emergency procedures and ensures staff are trained in safety procedures.
