What We Expect of You

·  Prior experience leading Engineering or Maintenance teams in a premium or luxury hotel environment, ideally within an international hotel group.
·  Deep knowledge of building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety, and energy management. You’re fluent in preventative maintenance, compliance, and asset protection.
·  You’re comfortable managing large operating budgets, capital projects, and aligning engineering strategy with broader business goals.
·  You're known for building high-performing teams through inspiring coaching, clear direction, and a strong focus on talent development.
·  You navigate change with integrity, resolve conflicts effectively, and make innovative, results-driven decisions.
·  Your can-do attitude sets the tone for excellence, and you’re always eager to take on new challenges and grow in your career.

A Glance at What You Will Do

As Director of Engineering, you’ll partner with your Assistant Chief Engineer to lead all things technical, operational, and strategic to ensure W Melbourne is always running at best performance. You’ll be responsible for:

·  Supervise and lead daily operations, new projects, renovations, and refurbishments to ensure quality execution on time and within budget.
·  Oversee departmental budgeting, payroll, capital planning, and cost control across utilities, service contracts, and maintenance operations.
·  Manage the hotel’s physical plant including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire safety systems, ensuring full compliance with all local regulations and brand standards.
·  Partner with other departments to ensure seamless guest experiences and support the success of events, operations, and brand activations
·  Carry out any other duty/function that the Hotel Manager or General Manager may assign. Provide ongoing support to the Hotel Manager or General Manager.
