PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
This position will provide support to a Vegetable Breeding Program, including specific project activity.

POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:
To assist and support daily plant breeding and project-based activities under the supervision of the breeder and/or breeder's assistant.
Duties and responsibilities:
• Lead a project within the vegetable breeding program
• Assist and support field and greenhouse work such as sowing, transplanting, harvesting, seed inventory management, and molecular marker sampling
• Support trial data collection activities
• Assist with the organization of pathology and molecular marker tests
• Assist with domestic and international seed shipments
• Collect, enter, and analyze experimental data
• Database management using plant breeding database
Profile
Required knowledge, skills & abilities:
• Highly effective computer, data management, communication, and organization skills
• Ability to plan and manage multiple activities in a fast-paced environment
• Individual must display a high degree of self-motivation, self-initiative, punctuality, and the ability to work well individually, as well as with others, through collaborative communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work extra hours and/or weekends when needed
Education & work experience required:
• Current college student or recent graduate in Horticulture, Agriculture, Biological sciences or related field
• Plant Breeding or Genetics knowledge desirable
• English language fluency required; fluency in French and/or Spanish is a plus
