Main Goal

Key support role in execution of routine applied activities worked on in AMPA, with a primary goal to meet breeder/client demand for production in plant pathology. Supports phytosanitary and diagnostics as required by job location. Job holder will conduct implementation of protocols and/or methods to improve and/or introduce new technical applications for production in addition to routine application responsibilities.

Job description

Essential duties and responsibilities:

• Support the implementation of industry standard routine pathology tests for the breeding and disease programs conducted at the local research station
• Put in place existing routine pathology tests with the support of the Research Associate and assist to establish newly developed protocols from research discovery
• Manage the daily activities of the pathology laboratory, growth chamber, greenhouses and field.
• Support the establishment and maintenance of a pathogen collection
• Support research development project activities
• Supervise Research Aide (seasonal)
• Cross training and assistance in other research domains

Other responsibilities:
• Support the pathology laboratory in identifying diseases in field samples
• Assist with inspections of greenhouses and trial plots at the local research station to assess phytosanitary conditions
• Support molecular and cell biology teams in sampling from pathology tests as needed

Profile

Technical Skills – Strong understanding and working knowledge in the required domain, plant science and genetics. Good knowledge in statistical tools, MS Office and other software domain related.
