Bath & Body Works is seeking a Sr. Package Engineer to support our beauty brands. This position is located in Reynoldsburg, Ohio and will have the opportunity for intermittent travel to global contract manufacturer sites.

 

OVERVIEW:

Individual contributor position responsible for the development of package engineering; provide project management guidance over primary, secondary and tertiary packaging. This position will work in a collaborative environment with brand partners in Design and Merchandising, Operations, Quality, Safety and Regulatory, Strategic Sourcing, as well as key vendors to drive solutions for global product development and innovation. As a trusted advisor to business partners and the vendor network, this role is responsible for supporting and learning the package development process, including, but not limited to technical drawing, fit and function evaluation, prequalification and validation, tooling, testing procedures, and materials. This role also owns supplier relations, by supporting investigative study of packaging options for active projects, and participating in key business meetings and representing Mast Global packaging through project execution through an engineering project management lens.

RESPONSIBLITIES:

Responsible for the engineering project management and development of components from home fragrance, body care and trend packaging that could range from plastic/glass bottles, jars, pumps, caps, labels, cartons, corrugate and other trending componentry.  Accountable for execution of daily operations and of category objectives.  Support ideation and implementation of Cost Savings and innovation initiatives. Manage front-end development of innovation projects. Work closely with Strategic sourcing partners on putting together bid package for all new components. Ensure that all partners in the package development process have the proper capabilities in order to produce results to brand expectations.  Learns the package development process to become subject-matter-expert in core category.

 

Responsibilities, under the direction of Manager:

·  Manage the cost sheet process from a packaging perspective.
·  Coordinate development of Specifications with suppliers to ensure functionality, aesthetics and transportation
·  Develop filling specifications in PLM with contract fillers, consistent with manufacturing capabilities and requirements
·  Develop and route BOM in PLM for all new products
·  Coordinate/Execute Package Test Plan – create with Packaging Test Lab & Manger
·  Evaluate and distribute production standards for all new components to suppliers, fillers and QA
·  Tool qualifications and/or component and filling start-ups as necessary
·  Partnership with Commercialization Services Group  for coordination of timeline and project execution with external clients

 

Package Development/Execution

·  Handles the packaging development for commercialized programs
·  Reviews and interprets DTO’s (Design Turn Over)
·  Formulates specifications
·  Creates packages
·  Attends press runs and line trials
·  Identifies components

 

Systems/Procedures

Execution of the following for product categories; supporting Manager/Director strategic initiatives:

·  Set up article tool BOM’s
·  Code Creation
·  Test orders/package Evaluation Requests (PERs)
·  Specifications for fill and assembly
·  SOP Standards
·  Component Sample Requests

 

Commercialization/ Project Management

·  Vendor Management
·  Troubleshoots when there is a delay
·  Partners with Commercialization team to ensure timelines are met

 

Specialty Projects

·  Strong relationships within Package development team
·  Direct engagement with vendors and Brand Merchants & Design
·  Builds internal relationship with all cross functional partners; including Commercialization services Group, Operations Planning, and Technical Services
·  Communicates on tactical issues and mechanical releases

 

Talent Management

·  Assist in Onboarding new associates
·  Train cross functional partners when possible
·  Identify continuous learning opportunities

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

·  5-7+ years’ experience in Packaging Engineering
·  Experience in manufacturing and/or consumer goods/retail a plus
·  Ability to present complex information to non-technical cross functional associates
·  System and computer proficiency
·  Ability to work in a fast paced environment with demonstrated initiative and ability to achieve results
·  Ability to build and foster strong trusted advisor relationships with internal and external partners

 

EDUCATION:

·  BS Engineering, preferably in Packaging, Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
