We are experiencing growth and there are plenty of opportunities to develop in your role and be promoted within the firm. The team provides strategic counsel and customized solutions to help global minded businesses deal efficiently and effectively with their cross-border workforce. We offer valuable insight into changes in immigration laws and policies, and appropriate Human Resources and Global Mobility strategies. Our goal is to deliver professional services so that your cross-border assignments are as worry-free and seamless as possible.

As part of our KPMG Immigration team you will be working with experienced Immigration professionals that are experts in US, Canadian & Global Immigration matters. They will be your colleagues and your mentors as you work shoulder to shoulder to develop our National Immigration Practice.

·  Naumaan Hameed The Associate Lawyer, Manager is responsible for advising clients and employees in obtaining business visitor visas, work permits and any other US immigration needs in a timely and efficient manner. This role requires excellent multi-tasking skills and an ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of clients, including HR representatives, senior-level personnel and internal team members.

What you will do:

The candidate will manage the delivery of business immigration services related to NIV matters, including H-1B, L-1, TN, E-1/2, J-1, H-3, O-1, and B-1applications. In addition, the candidate will help support the US immigration programs of multiple Fortune 500 client organizations.

-Independently and effectively manage a high volume of corporate immigration cases under strict deadlines;
-Provide timely, comprehensive, and strategic legal counsel related to NIV cases;
-Review and draft US NIV petitions, as well as responses to Requests for Evidence;
-Communicate with clients regarding US immigration law, policy, and related developments;
-Obtain and review relevant documentation and information to assess eligibility for certain US immigration benefits;
-Develop and maintain client relationships
-Track cases in progress to monitor for timing issues and overall client satisfaction
-Conduct legal research and draft advisory opinions
-Notify clients of changes in immigration law and provide legal advice regarding immigration concerns
-Stay current with changes in immigration law
-Work independently with minimal escalations
-Participate in speaking engagements and other thought leadership opportunities
-Demonstrable business development and involvement in RFP process
-Responsible for providing support and coaching to more junior team members

What you bring to the role:

-Called to the Bar and in good standing
-Law degree from an accredited institution
-US Bar Admission
-At least 5 year of high-volume business immigration experience, including experience with B-1, H-1B, L-1, TN, E-1/2, I-140, and I-485 applications;
-PERM experience is an asset
-Strong technical knowledge and legal writing skills
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills
-Ability to work independently and as part of a team
-Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
-Experience using legal case management software preferred
