Position Summary

KPMG LLP is looking to add a litigation and compliance lawyer to its in-house legal team of seven lawyers. This role will form an integral part of the Office of General Counsel's response to the litigation and compliance needs of the business.

What You Can Expect in this Role

The role will involve supporting the:

Assistant General Counsel (Litigation) with:

·  litigation management (e.g. class actions, securities, and professional negligence proceedings), including working closely with external counsel on litigation filings, e-discovery, examinations, mediations, and court and arbitral hearings; and,

·  the provision of legal guidance to the business in connection with litigation and risk related matters;

Assistant General Counsel (Regulatory and Professional Compliance) in connection with:

·  the preparation of regulatory filings (e.g., Canadian Public Accountability Board, US Public Company Accounting Oversight Board, lobbyist registry, etc.);

·  the provision of legal advice related to privacy, freedom of information, public accounting licensing, international sanctions and insider trading enquiries;

·  responding to orders, investigations and inquiries from domestic and international professional and regulatory bodies; and,

·  the development and administration of internal compliance programs.

What You Bring to KPMG

·  A member in good standing of the Law Society of Upper Canada or another Canadian law society;

·  2 - 4 years of experience at a major law firm, which includes direct experience in litigation and compliance matters.

·  Proficiency in e-discovery, including with Relativity;

·  Strong legal research and statutory interpretation skills, as well as the ability to review and interpret pending or new changes in law, regulation and policy;

·  Proven ability to manage multiple, conflicting priorities and ensuring timely communication to key stakeholders;

·  Proven ability to work autonomously and cross-functionally with both internal and external parties;

·  Proven ability to identify the potential impact of issues beyond the specific matter presented;

·  Strong client relationship, interpersonaland communication skills;

·  Strong, consistently demonstrated analytical skills;

·  Strategic thinker with sound judgment and business acumen;

·  Well-developed complex problems solving skills, and proven ability to take a broad perspective in order to identify innovative solutions
