Software Architect (m/f/d)
Porto (Porto)
Job description
As one of the world's leading logistics companies, we have opened a new IT Hub in Porto, Portugal. Our vision is to lead the transformation of the logistics industry into a technology-enabled, data-driven value chain. We envision a world where product teams can easily discover and consume data across domains and source systems on a central data platform in a consistent way. We will achieve this by building a data network based on the new KN technology platform. Within this data network, data stores are the curated data products that represent the KN business as a digital twin. Join our fascinating and international working environment and be part of the team responsible for the further development of our digital logistics processes.
Your Role
As a Software Architect, this is your opportunity to design, build, and steer the most central data product of the KN Data Mesh for Kuehne+Nagel that our internal IT product teams will love to use! You will work within the newly founded data-driven and cloud-based incubator project KN New IT Ecosystem (KNITE). From Porto, you can shape KN's Shipment Data Store and pave the way for other data products to come!Your Responsibilities
- Architect and build the Shipment Store Data Product based on the Data Platform pillar of the KNITE program in the cloud - you will join us at an early stage of the project and therefore have a lot of opportunity to influence, shape, and design.
- Champion practices such as Infrastructure-as-Code and GitOps and integrate them seamlessly with the surrounding infrastructure and processes.
- Take on the role of a technical leader in your field and speak at conferences or summits.
- Design, build, and operate the Shipment Store and its underlying infrastructure with a true end-to-end ownership mindset.
- Be the technical responsible for the product that will provide an analytical and operational single source of truth data for the global users at KN.
- Translate non-functional requirements from operational and analytical data use cases into actionable requirements for the team.
- Utilize, align, and maintain common templates with other KNITE product teams.
Your Skills and Experiences
- Extensive experience with at least one major cloud provider - ideally AWS.
- A mindset for designing solutions that favors reuse over reinvention, while still bringing your own ideas to tackle entirely new challenges.
- Several years of enterprise-level experience and comfort navigating large IT landscapes.
- Awareness of the Data Mesh movement and the basic ideas behind it
- Strong background in event-based systems (e.g., Apache Kafka) or modern data engineering architecture (e.g., Snowflake) and the desire to learn more about both.
- Enthusiasm and inspiration for working in international teams.
- Fluency in written and spoken English. Portuguese and/or German is a plus.
