Your Role

This position combines all facets of Road Logistics operations, performance management, sales support and customer service. The Road Logistics Manager will direct and control the growth and development of the road logistics department and will work closely with Branch, Regional, and National management to establish performance objectives and develop strategic planning.

Your Responsibilities

  • Manage the activities of the Road Logistics Department setting goals & priorities for the department in line with Branch,
  • Regional and Corporate strategy.
  • Overall supervision of staff and operations; assessing & addressing training needs and analyzing improvements. This includes carrier management.
  • Monitoring productivity and profitability of the department.
  • Full P & L financial responsibility under supervision of Branch Management in accordance with KN financial policies.
  • Ensuring compliance with QM Work Instructions & KN procedures and all applicable laws & regulations.
  • Performance management for the team and direct overall operational activities.
  • Customer Service Responsibilities:
  • Act as primary liaison with new & existing customers to ensure client needs are understood, establishing customer service KPI standards & SOP’s
  • Create & foster external & internal relationships to ensure efficiency and growth.
  • Develop processes that can be automated and will enhance daily Overland Department performance.
  • Close coordination with Sales including client visits as prospects or as existing clients
  • Developing targets; transitioning new clients to operations team; following up to ensure that KPI’s are met and that customer service protocols are fully implemented
  • Ensuring prompt & professional resolution of problems
  • Oversight of all aspects of the business process from initial inquiry, through to billing and FSL.
  • Providing rates & responses to internal & external customer inquiries;
  • Coordination with carriers and vendors to ensure maximum efficiency & profitability
  • Investigate shipment pickup and delivery exceptions, collating data requisite to the filing of claims, and monitor the process in accordance with governing regulations and industry precedents.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Your Skills and Experiences

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience of all aspects of air freight forwarding; 3 year experience as manager/ supervisor.
  • Thorough understanding of U.S. Export regulations & KN operational procedures.
  • Familiarity with KN tools, products and core competences preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize & multitask; willingness to delegate.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal & written.
  • Proven analytical & problem solving skills.
