Job description

We are looking for a Driver Trainer/Assessor to join our dynamic and fast paced team at Wellingborough and provide best in class drivers for our Whitbread contract. Kuehne + Nagel conduct logistics services on behalf of the customer Whitbread, ensuring the safe delivery of chilled, frozen and ambient products to more than 3,000 Costa Coffee, Premier Inns and associated restaurant chain outlets throughout the UK.

Your Role

As a Driver Trainer/Assessor working for Kuehne + Nagel, you have an opportunity to train and assess new and existing drivers along with agency staff in driving techniques, legal requirements and ensure that all drivers meet the required Company standards.

Your Responsibilities

·  Deliver an annual abc driver training program for all drivers to ensure they meet the required driving standards
·  Assess and improve driver efficiency through use of Microlise (covering fuel efficiency, reduce emissions, vehicle reliability, productivity, H&S, vehicle uptime)
·  To be involved in the development of our warehouse to wheels programme and the ongoing training for our van drivers to progress to Class 2 drivers.
·  Undertake all risk assessments in relation to vehicles and delivery to customer premises along with undertaking investigations into driver accidents.
·  Responsible for downloads of digital tachographs, review discrepancies with all drivers, sign off driver infringements, and set targets for improvement
·  Responsible for preparing and maintaining all data required for KN Fleet Audits and agree action plans following regular audits.
·  Manage all Driver CPCs, ensuring drivers are compliant with legal and KN requirements, undertake regular driver licence checks ensuring all legal requirements are complied with

Your Skills and Experiences

·  Driver assessor experience with excellent coaching and training skills
·  Good knowledge of transport rules and regulations, Class 1 driver qualified, with a minimum of 5 years experience
·  Demonstrate the ability to drive process improvements in line with the transport strategy and best practise
·  Ability to prepare and write training plans.
·  Has effective time management and planning skills
·  Understands the legal implications for Health & Safety on site, risk assessment experience
·  IT literate – MS Office
·  DCPC Trainer – JAUPT approved.  Experience of managing tachograph infringements
