Area Pricing and RFQ Coordinator, Seafreight

Job description

Responsible to set pricing and issue quotations for external and internal customers. Calculates rates and price conversions for the region. Converts and verifies shipment weight and volume.. Communicates by e-mail, telephone and face to face with foreign operations and local customers. Leads RFQ responses in collaboration with Trade and Area Seafreight Management Team. Takes ownership for win/loss ratio with key interest to advance Kuehne + Nagel's market position.

Your tasks and responsibilities

• Asses incoming opportunities, apply best strategy taking balanced approached between GP and NP2 into consideration
• Issue competitive quotations in accordance with company guidelines
• Maintain quotation log book including track and measure win/loss ratio
• Produce regular reporting an in depth analysis by region, customer, traffic etc., as required.
• Awareness of market developments per various trades lanes
• Interface with functional groups such as Industry Verticals, Trade Lane Management, Key Account Managers, Sales as well as Customer to create winning opportunities
• Responsible to lead RFQ responses and engaging Area Seafreight Management Team in collaboration with area procurement with support of NYC pricing as needed: populate and maintain area specific net database(s), receive and manage rate collection on RFQ's at all levels, engage relevant area business owners (ZS) when relevant and necessary.
• Assist Area Seafreight Manager in partnership with area business owners to develop, maintain, and support sales tariff which would be strategically scaled to customer/opportunity size (A, B,C… type margins)
• Help develop, maintain and support local quote tool which can be used for area and local RFQ's, plus ad hoc pricing
• Seek post-mortem information and apply findings to future RFQ's
• Issue routing guide with relevant service contract information for won business opportunities
• Assist with TPEB cargo steering / BookRight maintenance

Your skills and experience

Job Requirements
• Demonstrable advanced working knowledge of MS Excel (formulas, macros, etc.)
• Experience and Ability to read, interpret and analyze RFI and RFQ Documents (Min. 2 years)
• Familiarity with seafreight service contracts (Min. 2 years) including ability to extract and apply pertinent information for application to RFQ responses
• Analytical & data mining skills

Qualifications
• Ideal candidate will have 5 years current work experiences in seafreight forwarding & pricing.
• Break Bulk & OOG pricing knowledge is a plus
• Ability to work independently, within team guidelines and procedures, towards organizational goals.

Knowledge and Skills
• Good working knowledge of domestic and international geography including countries, major cities, seaports.
• Organization skills / project management (prioritize, plan, assign and control) and ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
