Product Quality Engineer – Sustain Team

LifeScan Scotland was created in 2001 when Johnson & Johnson acquired the UK assets of Inverness Medical Ltd, a medical device company established in Inverness in 1995 to design and manufacture glucose test strips, and design electronic meters for the global diabetes market.

With a focus on future development, LifeScan is committed to “creating a world without limits for people with diabetes.” Around 1,000 people are employed at the Inverness site, which is regarded as Johnson & Johnson's centre of excellence for diabetes and self-monitoring of blood glucose (SMBG).

The team at LifeScan Scotland designs all the products in the OneTouch® Brand of blood glucose monitoring systems (meters, test strips, control solutions, lancing devices and diabetes management software). The OneTouch® brand has two product families – Ultra® products, made from carbon technology, and Verio® products, made form precious metals technology. LifeScan Scotland is the primary OneTouch® test strip manufacturer for the Global market.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Quality Engineer working Monday – Friday in our Product Quality Sustain team. This is a key role and you will be supporting Product Quality across all aspects of the product lifecycle and distribution chain. You will provide assurance to LifeScan and customers that the appropriate QA requirements are being met including quality control activities throughout the product lifecycle.

What you're great at:
You will be able to work on your own initiative and be comfortable working with ambiguity where you may then be responsible for creating the procedures. You will be of strong character that will drive patient's safety at all time.
It goes without saying that you will have outstanding communications and interpersonal skills to support this cross functional role.

As a Quality Engineer, your typical day may include

o Provide quality leadership to project teams to ensure that appropriate quality controls and procedures are in place
o Supporting product change from R&D to production and ‘in-market' customisation
o Apply methodology experience to guide/advise others
o Provides solutions to problems and exercises judgment within standard policies and procedures to determine appropriate action.
o Influence others to ensure a high level of customer focus
o Participate in, and may lead, a team working on a sub-project
o Work on a variety of technical problems and implement solutions at the appropriate decision-making level
o Providing QA support for CAPA and Non-Conformances
o Manage Product and Brand Integrity Escalations

Qualifications :

Be Vital:
To be part of this dynamic team ideally you will be degree qualified with experience of working within a regulated environment. You will have diversity of thought teamed with a strong customer focus. Practically you will have strong documentation experience in a regulated environment.

You will have experience in adhering to quality processes and documenting your work within a quality system. You will be familiar with risk management tools such as FMEA and a good understanding of Understanding of Lean/Six Sigma principles. It goes without saying that you will hold yourself accountable and responsible with exceptional problem solving skills.
