LifeScan Scotland was created in 2001 when Johnson & Johnson acquired the UK assets of Inverness Medical Ltd, a medical device company established in Inverness in 1995 to design and manufacture glucose test strips, and design electronic meters for the global diabetes market.

With a focus on future development, LifeScan is committed to “creating a world without limits for people with diabetes.” Around 1,000 people are employed at the Inverness site, which is regarded as Johnson & Johnson's centre of excellence for diabetes and self-monitoring of blood glucose (SMBG).

The team at LifeScan Scotland designs all the products in the OneTouch® Brand of blood glucose monitoring systems (meters, test strips, control solutions, lancing devices and diabetes management software). The OneTouch® brand has two product families – Ultra® products, made from carbon technology, and Verio® products, made form precious metals technology. LifeScan Scotland is the primary OneTouch® test strip manufacturer for the global market.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Quality Engineer working Monday – Friday in our Product Quality team. You will be a Product Quality Representative supporting the New Product process.

As a Quality Engineer, your typical day may include:

You will have a great opportunity to work with colleagues from across all areas of the business from Quality, Global Technical Operations, Marketing and Research and Development. You will build excellent relationships, whilst maintaining the highest standards and providing Quality leadership to your internal and external business partners. Your workload will be wide and varied and will challenge you professionally.

Involving:

• Guiding project teams through the product development process
• Ownership of risk management documentation
• Input to and approval of project documentation including design requirements, drawings, and testing documentation
• Performing product testing alongside R&D
• Support Human Factors and Reliability activities

What you're great at:

You will be of strong character that will drive patient safety at all times. Together with outstanding communications and interpersonal skills to support this cross functional role.
A strong engineering background with experience within an engineering based test laboratory will help you to be successful in this role. You will love to be part of a cross functional team working together to deliver new products to the market, whilst having a close eye on continuous improvement opportunities.

Qualifications :

Be Vital:

To be part of this dynamic team ideally you will be degree qualified with experience of working within a regulated environment. You will have diversity of thought teamed with a strong customer focus. Practically you will have experience of working in an engineering based test lab with proven track record of working cross functionally.

You will have experience in adhering to quality processes and documenting your work within a quality system. You will have strong Quality systems knowledge and awareness and familiar with risk management tools such as FMEA.

It would be desirable to have:
• Product Development and Change Management Knowledge or Experience
• Electronics knowledge and experience of soldering
• Experience of Test Method Validation and Lab Equipment validation
• Awareness of Human Factors and Reliability
