Position summary

Our microbiology teams make a big impact by looking at things in minute detail, making sure our products and processes live up to the high standards our customers expect. Every day they need to make sure thousands of our health care products are sterilised before they can be manufactured or used by professionals on the frontline. And when it comes to precision, accuracy and the sterilisation of our tools, processes and products - there can be no compromise. In microbiology, you could design, carry out and interpret microbiological experiments to support our ongoing operations, process improvements and new product development. You could find yourself supporting the manufacture of bone cement for hip and knee replacements. Or you could improve the lives of our customers by sampling, testing and ensuring the quality of everything from raw materials to our final products.

Be prepared to have real responsibility from the offset as you conduct frontline testing that directly impacts patients! Moreover you will become a valued member of the lab team working in a fast paced environment.

Main duties and responsibilities:
·  Ensure that microbiological testing is performed in a timely manner
·  Day to day performance
·  Bioburden testing
·  Sterility testing
·  Antibiotic potency testing
·  Environmental monitoring
·  Enumeration and identification of contaminants
·  Management of consumables and materials used in testing
·  Autoclaving of items for the laboratory and production
·  Execution of the laboratory cleaning program
·  GMP documentation and Quality Systems
·  Completion of Microbiology records ensuring compliance to GMP, consistency and traceability
·  Data entry, trending and trend report writing
·  To follow the company's local, HS&E and Quality procedures
·  Validation
·  Participate in the validation of test methods, equipment and processes owned by Microbiology
·  Involvement in Process Simulations and other special processes
·  External communications
·  Liaise with sterilisation contactors and approved manufactures to ensure product data is retrieved and available in a timely manner.
·  Ensure purchase orders are raised in a timely manner to limit stock outs

Desired profile

Qualifications

Requirements of the role:
·  2 years of degree level study completed
·  A minimum of 2:1 achieved in first year of study
·  Microbiological or Biological Science degree preferable
·  Minimum of A level or equivalent in Science or Mathematics discipline

Key skills and competencies:

·  Good numerical skills and computer literacy
·  Minimum 1 years experience in a laboratory setting (Practical laboratory experience gained through a degree is acceptable)
·  Working with Microsoft office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Office)
·  Good numerical skills and computer literacy
·  Attention to detail
·  Conscientiously meet deadlines
·  Ability to cope under pressure and to react to changing requirements
·  Ability to work effectively as part of a team to achieve results

The assessment centre for this role will take place on 23rd January 2019
