Your Responsibilities

 

As a Software Engineer in the John Deere Order Management (OM) program, you will get the rare opportunity to work on a large-scale global web application in a Fortune 500 company that is regularly ranked among the best companies to work for in the country. This particular position will be on the OM Build & Price team which will be among the first in the company to adopt the new Global IT Agile Operating Model. This means that the opportunities afforded this position go well beyond the traditional design, development, testing, and delivering of new features but also now includes exposure to automated test frameworks, CI/CD, code scanning, pairing, and fully peer-reviewed code. The person filling this position will also be expected to play a lead developer role within the team and mentor to our more junior developers. Major duties include:

 

·  Develops, codes, configures, and tests programs and systems
·  Evaluates and implements enhancement design solutions to improve cost, quality, and performance of software applications
·  Analyzes assignments and determines software specifications that must be fulfilled to achieve objectives
·  Executes necessary documentation, as directed, or needed
·  Collaborates with other relevant stakeholders and team members to ensure that features meet business needs
·  Follows industry-standard agile software design methodology for development and documentation
·  Mentors junior software engineers on the team

What Skills You Need

 

·  3 or more years of experience in the design, development, testing and integration of highly complex software solutions 
·  Understanding of applications development environment, database, data management and infrastructure capabilities and constraints 
·  3 or more years of experience with TDD and acceptance test-driven development utilizing J-Unit, Cucumber, Worksoft Certify, ABAP Unit, SAP ATC, Cucumber, Cypress, Puppeteer etc. 
·  3 or more years of experience with Java web development with Spring and RESTful APIs or ABAP development with Rest/SOAP based services
·  Ability to manage many competing priorities/requests in a fast-paced environment 
·  2 or more years of varied DB experience (e.g. DBS, SQL Server, MongoDB, Hibernate, NoSQL, MySql, DB2, SAP Hana) 
·  Excellence in verbal and written communication forms with emphasis on persuasive communication, tact and negotiation 
·  Capable of collaborating with multiple business stakeholders to provide information technology solutions 
·  1 or more years of work experience in an Agile/Scrum team environment 

 

What Makes You Stand Out

Other areas of experience or interest that will help us place you on the right team include:

 

·  3 or more years of experience in UI development React / Angular / JavaScript / HTML / HTML5 / CSS / CSS3 
·  Experience configuring and implementing system execution/quality monitoring tools like AppDynamics, Grafana, Graylog, SAP Focused Run, SonarQube, nGeniusONE etc. 
·  1 or more years of experience with DevOps principles and lean development such as Continuous Integration (e.g. CitHug) and Continuous Delivery (Jenkins, Active Control etc.) 
·  Experience in cloud development with platforms like AWS or Azure 
·  2 or more years of experience in implementation of major software programs leveraging change management 
·  1 or more years of experience with Swagger.io 
·  Working understanding of design patterns and loosely coupled architectures 

 

Education (or equivalent work experience)

 

·  Bachelor's degree in IT/Computer Science/Engineering
