Title: Product Design Engineer - 57055 

Your Responsibilities

As a Product Design Engineer for the Motor Grader team at John Deere Construction & Forestry (C&F) division in Dubuque, IA, you will lead the design of motor grader engine system functional area. You will participate on the Product Delivery Process (PDP) and PDP updates (all models, all engine configurations) to ensure that designs meet performance, reliability, service access, manufacturability, cost, and schedule targets. In addition, you will:

·  Work collaboratively with internal John Deere partners at John Deere Power Systems (JDPS) for engine integration, as well as motor grader performance engineer, and external suppliers to ensure that vehicle performance requirements are being met
·  Support Motor Grader engine/cooling Product Validation and Verification (PV&V) activities
·  Diagnose engine system issues during new product development and resolve production line engine system issues when the module or the Dealer Technical Assistance Center (DTAC) need support
·  Use "Rapid Concepting" process and Pugh Analysis tools in design concept selection and develop and maintain engine system design guidelines
·  Develop torque curve shapes and evaluate with professional operators, interpret feedback and execute engine performance modifications as required
·  Interact with customers via Customer Advocate Groups (CAG) and customer visits
·  Develop and maintain engine system design guidelines

What Skills You Need

 

·  1 or more years of combined experience (co-op, intern and/or practical experience is acceptable) in product engineering, design or PV&V
·  1 or more years of experience participating on cross-functional product development team
·  Working knowledge of engine systems and performance characteristics and controls
·  Demonstrated ability applying engineering principles to machine design or validation
·  Demonstrated ability to manage several projects simultaneously
·  Demonstrated ability to solve technical problems and select design concepts
·  Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) systems
·  Demonstrated ability to clearly, concisely communicate technical topics  

What Makes You Stand Out

·  1 or more years' experience using ProE and PDMLink
·  1 or more years of experience using SAP
·  Experience with engine software tools
·  Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams
·  Demonstrated ability to manage contract/contingent/overseas design resources
·  Working knowledge of off-highway construction equipment  
·  Working knowledge of motor graders & competitive machines

Education (or equivalent work experience)

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or equivalent experience.
