SALARY:  £31,500 - £45,500

LOCATION:   West Midlands

 

This role is also eligible for other additional allowances to base salary.

WHAT TO EXPECT

 

Using state-of-the-art facilities, you’ll provide the power behind our vehicles working in our Powertrain Engineering team. You'll find the ideal balance between performance and sustainability, while responding to the environmental issues that shape our industry.

 

As Transmission Software Controls Engineer you’ll be responsible for planning and delivery of transmission software and electronic hardware. This will include working on 8 speed transmission, Hybrid transmission, or electronic shifter projects across multiple Jaguar Land Rover applications. A strong engineer, you’ll utilise your understanding of the demands on software Quality (e.g. ASPICE) and Safety (ISO26262) to deliver transmission control.

 

Evaluating new programme requirements, you’ll develop software and hardware delivery plans for each vehicle project, in line with the Jaguar Land Rover programme milestones and deliverables. You’ll be responsible for planning and coordinating software and hardware testing with the supplier and internal test teams (HIL and vehicle based), ensuring that issues are evaluated and addressed within a quick timescale. Finally, you’ll coordinate the project tasks to ensure that software and hardware is released on time for production and service across the range of vehicles.

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

 

With a degree in Electrical/Electronics/Control systems or similar discipline, you’ll demonstrate a good electrical and electronics engineering background. You’ll have experience of electronics software and hardware delivery, as well as testing and engineering sign-off.

 

Hands on experience of ETAS INCA, Vector CANalyser/CANoe, Hardware in Loop (HIL) simulation, testing and automation would also be required. You’ll have supplier management capability and proven experience of influencing suppliers in delivery.

 

A strong communicator, you’ll have the ability to influence and negotiate deliverables and priorities with peers. You’ll have excellent analytical skills, with the ability to resolve complex issues. Finally, a strong planning mind set with excellent execution skills will be essential.
