We are looking to recruit a postgraduate student to support our research projects.

You’ll be given a choice of one of our two projects.

Project One: Battery Cells Development

The main objective of this project is to support the project team, with your chemistry skills, in developing new solutions for Battery Cells.

In this project Battery Cells Development, you will take part in assessment of different battery chemistries, create a model within MATLAB/Simulink environment and correlate this model with available data, and finally generate requirements for future vehicles based on the learning developed within the project.

Project Two: Battery Charging Development

The main objective of this project is to support the project team, with your electrical engineering know how, in developing new solutions for automotive Battery Charging.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

The prime requirement for participation in this project is to be pursuing a postgraduate degree in electrical engineering and/or advanced chemistry / electrochemistry. It is just as important that you’ll have good appreciation of modelling techniques as well as an understanding of electric vehicles propulsion / batteries system layout. You’ll also be expected to have an awareness of energy management principles and controls engineering.

Though not essential it is desirable that you’ll have previous MATLAB/Simulink experience as well as a general understanding of vehicle engineering including automotive drive cycles.

A resilient self-starter with the ability to resolve technical challenges with limited guidance, you’ll be able to deliver results under pressure, whilst responding constructively to new ideas and inputs.
