WHAT TO EXPECT

When it comes to the future, our Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) team is planning it today. From the luxuriously agile Jaguar F-TYPE to the innovative CX-17, our vehicles – famed for the revolutionary technologies they employ – are amongst some of the most desired and revered in the world today. Your constant challenge, working as part of our diverse and multi-skilled AME team, will be to ensure our iconic brands continue to captivate the world tomorrow.

Manpower Planning is a central part of AME and has the responsibility of presenting the statistical data required to plan, monitor, and by analysis challenge the labour requirements across the Jaguar Land Rover Production facilities.

The scope of delivery is from Pre-programme kick off through all the Vehicle Gateways ensuring that the programmes deliver to their timings and Hours per Car (HPC) targets and then continue to deliver efficiency targets.  This is achieved through having a comprehensive understanding of the Production operating parameters, the deployment of the Industrial engineering Quality Operating Systems (QOS), benchmarking activities, Design for Assembly (DFA) analysis in the virtual world, allocation planning, method study and synthetic time deployment.

Process optimisation is key to production perfection. As a Launch Industrial Engineer, your key role will be to deliver quality products by effectively optimising people and facilities, focused on Halewood’s hourly paid workforce for future new models.  Bringing all of your talents by collaborating with various departments including Product Development, Material Planning & Logistics and Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, to work with processes and developing new vehicle and model year plans to achieve programme manpower targets.  You’ll be expected to analyse the assembly design through virtual programme phases and report the Basic Minute Value (BMV) and Hours Per Car (HPC) Status. We will expect you to confidently suggest best practice productivity ideas at all stages of the programme and be focused on LEAN principles using various methodologies.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

To be successful in this role, you’ll need experience in work measurement techniques and tools such as benchmarking activities and design for assembly analysis in the virtual world.  Experience in allocation planning, method study and synthetic time deployment along with practical knowledge of Global Study Process Allocation System (GSPAS) and Allocation Planning Tools (APT) would also be desirable.

Microsoft Excel skills are vital, as is a strong mathematical and analytical ability.  Data integrity is paramount in this role, so fundamentally you’ll have an eye for accuracy and detail.  Furthermore you’ll have experience in data gathering and a logical approach to your work.   Experienced with LEAN and Kaizen principles, you should be flexible and agile with your problem-solving skills in order to deliver.  Qualifications in a relevant field are desirable, in particular the Institute of Management Services Certificate (IMS), however, essentially it is the practical experience that we are seeking for this role.

Developing good working relationships is a key component of thriving in this changing environment as is being able to challenge in an appropriate and constructive manner.  You must also be self-motivated, resilient, possess effective communication skills and be passionate about joining our team.

There will be travel between sites therefore a level of flexibility and a full UK driving licence will be required.
