WHAT TO EXPECT
The Powertrain Systems, Calibration and Control team are responsible for delivering control systems to the business. These include control systems for Conventional, Full Hybrid, Plug-In Hybrid, Mild Hybrid, Stop-Start, and Electric Vehicle. Working as part of this team, the Functional Safety group are responsible for delivering robust functional safety designs for torque-related hazards.
As Functional Safety Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to be part of shaping the direction of these new, crucial technologies, and pursue your designs through to delivery across a number of platforms and programmes. You’ll be responsible for the planning and delivery of the Functional Safety work products for the technologies and programmes for which you are responsible, whilst also ensuring maximum commonality with our other technologies and programmes.
You’ll be supporting the generation and delivery of all functional safety work products for assigned programmes and technologies, from hazard identification and concept design to final validation and sign off. Finally, you’ll help resolve any issues arising in relation to safety case during design and development, and also planning, tracking and reporting out of status.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
You’ll come to this role with experience of functional system design and the application of systems engineering principles. You’ll also need an awareness of full V-cycle of control system development and testing. Ideally you will be qualified to degree in an engineering discipline, or are able to demonstrate equivalent levels of training and experience.
