LOCATION:  West Midlands

 

This role is also eligible for other additional allowances to base salary.

WHAT TO EXPECT

 

Using state-of-the-art facilities, you’ll provide the power behind our vehicles working in our Powertrain Engineering team. You'll find the ideal balance between performance and sustainability, while responding to the environmental issues that shape our industry.

 

As Control System Development Engineer you’ll be responsible for the design of real time control system functions and models for the Hybrid Vehicle Supervisory Controller using Matlab and Simulink. You'll be a key team member delivering control system models for electric motor power control, vehicle state estimation, limit control and torque control for vehicles with electrified propulsion systems. 

 

You'll work collaboratively with systems and calibration engineers in a lead or support role (where necessary) to derive requirements and designs for these functions. In addition you’ll be involved in the development of CAE tools to support control system development, create function level Failure Mode Avoidance documentation and present function level designs to Technical Specialists.

 

Day-to-day activities will include technical meeting support, functional requirement analysis and Simulink model development to meet the requirements, and then software code generation for those models. Model reviews and quality checks of other engineers designs will also be included.

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

 

You'll be passionate about creating and delivering new automotive technologies. You'll have strong experience of delivering complex, distributed control systems, including leading resolution of complex technical issues combined with extensive experience of Control System design with Matlab / Simulink. Experience in the automotive or OEM supplier industry is preferred in the software, control system design or engine calibration fields. You’ll have an Engineering degree, and be a person who has excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including strong influencing and engagement skills.
