WHAT TO EXPECT

As a Principal Engineer within our Final Assembly teams, you’ll report directly to the Current Manufacturing Engineering Manager and immerse yourself in leading an array of strategic electrical projects. This role covers a complex set of objectives, and you’ll manage and lead a team to deliver against some of our key targets around safety, quality, delivery and cost as well being the trusted go-to person for any VCATS exchanges or software downloads across our production lines. As an ambassador for Quality, you’ll drive improvements supported by appropriate engagement of stakeholders, ensuring that each build hall has a clear view of issues and is actively working to resolve them.

Your experience and judgement will support a team of engineers in the resolution of electrical issues and maintaining expenditure budget through financial control. Day to day, you’ll lead the development of the electrical strategy for the build hall, lead on line trails, and help facilitate the deployment of resource as business requirements arise. You’ll ensure training is in place for your team on all electrical changes to either tests systems or the product.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

You’ll need to have a sound understanding of shop floor quality system (eg. QBAY, Flags) paired with a proven track record in being able to analyse and construct trend charts and undertake data analysis. The role will require a level of self-sufficiency and experience in working with On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) tools and techniques (eg. Canalizer). You’ll need to be able to demonstrate a sound understanding of VCAT and shop floor test systems and have the ability to work as part of a team and be able to drive motivation and enthusiasm amongst others.

Ideally, you’ll have experience in the automotive industry (preferably within Final Assembly), possess an excellent understanding of lean methodologies, and be black- or green-belt-qualified. A degree in a relevant disciple or the wiliness to study would be desirable.
