Operating within the wider function of Cost Engineering, the Team Value Management (TVM) Commodity Business team are responsible for cost knowledge management at a strategic level within the Jaguar Lane Rover Centres of Competence. You’ll be responsible for leading a wide range of engineering, commercial and financial activities as the team work across multiple areas of the company, particularly in the purchasing and design environments.

In your role you’ll support the development of Cost Engineering and Team Value Management within Purchasing and Engineering. This will include assisting in managing the purchasing and cost engineering contributions and alignment conclusions within individual commodity system strategy reviews. You’ll support the leadership and coordination of matched pair Strategic Commodity Dossier process as a pre requisite for the Commodity Business Plans. You’ll also manage the commercial Gap Closure Process by facilitating the use of cost knowledge data to drive improved supplier performance. The project management of commodity teams within Purchase, Engineering and Cost Estimating functions will be part of this role, and this will help manage existing projects and generate new opportunities throughout the organisation.

 

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

In this strategic position you’ll need proven project management skills with good business acumen and a knowledge of finance analysis. This analysis will be used to interpret data, so MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Project skills will be required. We will expect you to have proven experience of developing engineering or commercial solutions with the specific aim of reducing cost of components or assemblies. You’ll also have previous experience facilitating supplier-based workshops, which will include benchmarking and internal consultation to generate cost and revenue opportunities. The role requires a degree of tenacity and steadfastness to follow through and complete delivery, using your own initiative to find solutions.
