WHAT TO EXPECT

Jaguar Land Rover Classic is a newly established business unit that will protect, promote, and profit from the classic of the Jaguar and Land Rover brands. They deliver vehicle recreations, restorations, and servicing alongside classic vehicle events experiences; they also supply classic parts through an approved restorer and service network and through the licensing and merchandising of classic goods.

The Classic Engineering department is a new area of Classic dedicated to supplying unobtainable parts to the recreation and restoration projects as well as to the aftermarket for both Jaguar and Land Rover products. We are also responsible for signing off the engineering content of component and vehicle projects so as to ensure the Classic team deliver to the highest quality possible.

Your role will be to create the CAD models and drawings necessary to support the manufacture of parts for all our upcoming projects from a variety of different source data. This will also involve liaison with the engineers in the team to aid them in getting the parts manufactured.

In your role, you’ll also model and draft parts from original drawings, scan or measurement data, or from photographs. Liaison with the measurement department will be required to obtain sufficient data from physical parts to enable reverse engineering.

Additionally, you’ll design new parts for customisation and modernisation projects to meet engineering requirements. Management of data transfer will be important for work that is outsourced as you’ll have to ensure part numbering and drawing conventions are applied and that all data is stored correctly. You’ll also maintain the Classic drawing archive, interfacing with the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Archivist and the Land Rover archives to ensure the required source data is collected and stored for future use.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

As a Classic CAD Engineer, you’ll need Catia V5 and/or Teamcenter formal training and experience, and you’ll have previously drafted to a high standard for component manufacture. Besides an understanding of drafting tolerances, you’ll have an awareness of tolerance stack when designing parts. A relevant degree or equivalent experience is preferred.

As for your soft skills, you’ll be an excellent communicator with a degree of self-confidence and showing a passion for the product. Naturally self-motivated, enthusiastic, and proactive, you’ll be able to demonstrate initiative and the ability to work with minimum supervision.

Ideally, you’ll possess practical knowledge of Classic cars be well-versed in engineering and manufacturing techniques and processes. Although it is not essential, in this role you would greatly benefit from experience of rapid prototyping techniques and an understanding of historic units or thread sizing.

Bring all this to the home of premium innovation, and you’ll find the opportunities to further your career with a world-class team, a discounted car purchase and lease scheme for you and your family, membership of a competitive pension plan, and a performance-related bonus scheme.
