WHAT TO EXPECT

Suspension, Engine Mounts, Wheels and Tyres. To provide an exceptional driving experience, every chassis component needs be honed to perfection. That takes all kinds of people, from designers to project managers.

 

The Chassis & Motion Control Systems team is primarily responsible for developing and delivering features such as; electronically controlled suspension, electronic brake control, active steering controllers, active driveline controllers and configurable vehicle dynamics features and covers all aspects of the design from requirements to implementation.

As a Diagnostics and Control Engineer within the Suspension Controls team, you’ll be involved in all aspects of diagnosing suspension control fault conditions from identifying diagnostic requirements through to implementation, calibration and verification.

Working with our functional safety, vehicle control, and actuation control specialists, you will define and document requirements for detecting actuation, communication and computational errors. You will develop diagnostic control models in a MatLab/Simulink based tool chain for delivery in to our software coding process and you'll support calibration activities.

You'll be expected to adhere to strict deadlines to support vehicle programme timing whilst also working in accordance with quality processes and standards. You'll provide MiL / SiL / HiL and ‘on vehicle’ test case specification, perform model reviews and use version control tools to ensure full traceability from requirement to verification test result.  

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

Jaguar Land Rover considers that this role does not meet the criteria to be considered within the Home Office Shortage Occupation list.  Therefore, Jaguar Land Rover will not support an application for visa sponsorship and all applicants for this role must have an unrestricted right to work for an indefinite period in the UK.

 

You’ll need to be a competent Matlab and Simulink user with a good understanding of applicable modelling techniques. We’ll also be looking for knowledge of control theory, electronics and vehicle networking, not to mention excellent systematic problem solving abilities and great communication skills.

Previous experience of diagnostic function development would be a key advantage, as would be evidence of prior control function delivery. Additionally, the following would be advantageous:

-        Experience of version control and requirements management tools (DOORS, RTC)

-        Knowledge of vehicle dynamics and suspension actuation systems

-        Prior experience working in accordance with ISO 26262  

-        Familiarity with Vector tools (CANape,  CANalyzer ) and dSpace Control Desk
