Body in White Advanced Manufacturing Engineering is a major department responsible for the planning and deployment of all new manufacturing processes and facilities for Body Assembly across Jaguar and Land Rover. It is also responsible for working closely with Product Design to ensure that our products are both feasible and efficient for manufacture. They are at the leading edge of technology using all types of robotics, automation systems, complex jigs/fixtures and many hot and cold joining techniques. For that reason many of the projects delivered are highly capital intensive and require careful cost management.

 

As a Forward Strategy Engineer, you’ll provide engineering and technical support to design, develop and implement manufacturing production processes to enable successful launch of new products, ensuring feasibility of all designs to suit manufacturing build requirements, Design for Assembly and alignment to the Bill of Process. 

 

You’ll support a multi-functional manufacturing team through the initial programme phases, from programme kick-off through to programme start, ensuring all metrics and targets are delivered.

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

It is essential that you have previous Manufacturing experience along with experience of Manufacturing / Engineering processes, tools and techniques including consistent delivery of productivity targets in Manufacturing.  Having experience in manufacturing Launch environments would be desirable as would a background of vehicle body assembly process development, joining technologies and body assembly equipment including tooling, automation and robotics.  Experience of Dimensional Maturation and Build Integrity would also be advantageous.

 

You’ll be a confident communicator, with ability to present complex information in various forums to key stakeholders. It’s imperative that you’ve the commitment to meet deadlines along with a record of proactive delivery. You’ll be experienced in the application of logical approaches to problem solving and an effective team player that actively supports team members. It would be preferable to be degree qualified in a relevant field.  It would also be desirable to have an understanding of statistical process control, control plans and a knowledge of Integrated Production Systems, Quality Operating systems, Audit compliance, along with strong computer skills including Microsoft packages, PowerPoint and Excel.
