WHAT TO EXPECT

When it comes to the future, our Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) team is planning it today. Regularly working up to three years ahead of production, they help translate, plan and implement Product Development outputs into vehicle manufacture, transforming our ambitious plans into tangible and exhilarating realities. From the luxuriously agile Jaguar F-TYPE to the innovative CX-17, our vehicles – famed for the revolutionary technologies they employ – are amongst some of the most desired and revered in the world today.

Your constant challenge, working as part of our diverse and multi-skilled AME team, will be to ensure our iconic brands continue to captivate the world tomorrow.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The department is currently involved with introduction of all new bodyshop projects and changes to existing facilities to support the Jaguar Land Rover cycle plan.

As a Battery Frame Principal Engineer you’ll help lead in the design and development of Body in White (BIW) processes, tooling and equipment for both new and model year programme actions.

You’ll be expected to assist the department manager with all aspects of programme activities, such as manufacturing system design and development as well as the organising and running of design reviews and problem solving.  You’ll develop process solutions, be the representative at meetings with key stakeholders and promote efficient departmental development actions and process improvements.

You’ll manage key suppliers, have budget accountability and take lead engineer responsibility for a small team of engineers, and ensure the objectives and deliverables assigned and agreed by the team are met.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

You’ll have experience of vehicle body assembly process development, joining technologies and body assembly equipment including tooling, automation and robotics. If you’ve Battery frame experience that’s even better.

You’ll be experienced in the application, integration and development of future technologies and methods, with a strong understanding of the current and future requirements of such technologies. Drawing on your previous experiences you’ll show evidence of an innovative approach to technical problem solving and process development, along with the ability to work with financial information with technical decision-making.  A strong communicator, you’ll complete projects within set targets, be comfortable negotiating and have the ability to analyse and present data to others.

Ideally educated to degree level or equivalent in an engineering discipline, however, consideration will be given to those who can demonstrate exceptional, relevant expertise and experience in a Manufacturing Body Construction environment in lieu of formal qualifications.
