Continually pushing the boundaries of innovation and redefining the benchmark for excellence, we set the standards others want to follow. We want to keep it that way too. Which is where you join the journey.

Location: Midlands and Halewood

WHAT TO EXPECT

When it comes to the future, our Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) team is planning it today. Regularly working up to three years ahead of production, they help translate, plan and implement Product Development outputs into vehicle manufacture, transforming our ambitious plans into tangible and exhilarating realities.

From the luxuriously agile Jaguar F-TYPE to the innovative CX-17, our vehicles – famed for the revolutionary technologies they employ – are amongst some of the most desired and revered in the world today. Your constant challenge, working as part of our diverse and multi-skilled AME team, will be to ensure our iconic brands continue to captivate the world tomorrow.

The Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Paint Team are responsible for the development of all new vehicles and model year changes. The role requires involvement from the Clay model stage through to the physical launch of the vehicle up to Job 1.

The Design phase involves working with CAD models in conjunction with the various Product Development teams such as Design, Body Engineering, Materials Engineering, CAE and the other Manufacturing technologies such as Body Construction and Trim and Final. Virtual Analysis is at the forefront of this phase.  The Launch phase involves planning the execution of the programme requirements for Prototype build and Volume ramp up to full production running. This is done in conjunction with the Plant based Production Engineering Teams and the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Paint Facility team.

Working with Advanced Product Planning, Product Development and Launch Team to deliver programs from concept through to launch, you’ll lead problem resolution activities for engineering issues.  You’ll support the lessons learnt actions for the paint process to ensure each lesson is actioned and prevented from recurrence.  You’ll also ensure process capability of all processes and equipment to deliver Basic Minute Value (Hours Per Car) and Quality targets.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

To be successful in this role you’ll need to have a background in process engineering in a production environment. Ideally this experience has been gained in a Paint shop but more important is the ability to understand and develop processes. You’ll have a mechanical mind-set as you’ll be working to timelines, deadlines and targets with machinery and you’ll be expected to identify possible failures along the way, demonstrating a problem solving aptitude. Furthermore you’ll be expected to expand the Paint Engineering focus as far upstream as possible in order to ensure Paint strategy alignment to long and mid-term platform and architecture strategy.

You’ll have excellent communication skills both written and verbal, along with an ability to present complex information in a variety of formats. It’s all in the planning with this role, so you’ll have a strategic, logical approach and have attention to detail and accuracy of information. Ideally you’ll have some experience in data gathering but more importantly demonstrating a capability to plan and develop a project with having a big picture view will be key.  This role will bring a great opportunity to develop it outside of this remit and you’ll thrive on this challenge, being self-driven, proactive and creative. Working independently to bring improvements, confidently challenging the status quo and introduce change where required.  Finally, you’ll need knowledge in current level CAD system -ie Catia v5 / v6 or equivalent, Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA) and quality and environmental policy requirements. Ideally you’ll be educated to degree level in Manufacturing or a similar engineering discipline, or an NVQ level 3 or equivalent, or evidence of working towards achieving this level

The base locations are dependent upon the current needs of the department. However, a high degree of flexibility is required to support the on-going development and launch of programmes

Please be advised that we have monthly assessment centres for these roles.  If you are successful at application stage, we will be in touch with you to advise you of the next available assessment centre that you will be invited to.

Bring all this to the home of premium innovation, and you will find the opportunities to further your career with a world-class team. Our employees have access to a privilege car purchase scheme, membership of a competitive pension plan, performance related bonus scheme and 26 days holiday entitlement. All this and more makes Jaguar Land Rover the perfect place to continue your journey.
Jaguar Land Rover is committed to equal opportunity for all.
