Exadata Database Administrator

Job description

Global Technology Infrastructure (GTI) Sustained Engineering (SE)focuses on the end-to-end engineering and operations of our critical systems and products as well as production management activities, including incident, problem, change and crisis management processes, and asset lifecycle management.

The Database Products Engineering Team has the responsibility for the architecture, design, deployment, engineering, and operational support of engineered systems from Oracle, specifically Exadata and the Zero Data Loss Recovery Appliance (ZDLRA), which is the primary platform for the majority of Oracle database backups across the entire non-Exadata estate.

We are looking for an Oracle database administrator with Exadata experience to join our global DevOps team. As a member of a 24x7 follow-the-sun support team this role will combine hands-on operational activities with collaboration in design and tuning discussions alongside the application production support teams. This position will also assist in developing software to automate operational processes and deliver a secure, stable, and reliable plant.

This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:
·  Experience as an Oracle database administrator, all versions through 12c
·  Experience as an Exadata "database machine administrator" covering all of database, operating system, and storage administration
·  Strong background in performance analysis, debugging, and tuning of an Oracle database
·  Expertise in Oracle recovery manager (RMAN); experience with ZDLRA a plus
·  Strength in at least one of the areas - Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), Oracle Real Application Cluster (RAC), Oracle GoldenGate, or Active DataGuard
·  Proficiency with Linux, shell scripting in bash or ksh, Oracle PL/SQL, and one or both of perl and python
·  Proven ability to understand and troubleshoot complex problems under pressure
·  Incident resolutions experience in a large scale operations environment
